So 4 games from world cup
You would assume that they would play there strongest side injuries permiting
Stones can't get a game for city
Rose can't get a game for spurs
Trippier can't get a game for spurs
Gomez can't get a game for Liverpool
Chamberlain can't get a game for Liverpool
Lingard can't get a game for manure
Rashford can't get a game for manure

    Then there's Henderson

Sez it all about our chances that lot

Although they will beat this Dutch side

Are they playing goal kicks backwards, putting themselves under pressure just to play it out from the back to a midfielder, who then hits it long for a lightening quick striker to chase ?, If so I might put in on for half hour, you can’t get enough of that, modern day football is wonderful.

The best thing that Southgate and the FA could have done is drop all those players not playing regularly as he threatened early on when he took charge. It would make them either get up off their lazy backsides and move to a side outside of England or get into their club managers face - if you can play for England, while not being a regular for an English side, it tells you everything about the players attitudes and the weight given to the "honour" of playing for England - ie they couldn't care less.

Or perhaps, this is their opportunity to remind their club managers what they’re capable of.which in turn could well benefit England.

A lot like we/Barnsley rely on Mcburnie, we/England also totally rely on one striker, where would we be without Harry Kane's goal threat.
a lot was expected of him and Vardy as a twin strike threat in the Euros two years ago, and its fair to say they totally flopped.

This particular England side look good. Pace and movement everywhere. I wish Danny Rose could cross a ball though.

Rose, Trippier, Chamberlain, Lingard and Rashford have played plenty of club football recently. Probably a good thing they’re not playing every game - they might look a bit sharper than had they played a full season.

We’ve played well in this game.

Sorry about the doom and gloom on a Friday , best day of the week by far
But I was 3 when we won the world cup so no idea about that
Other than Italia 90 and Euro 96 it's been dire
    That's 52 years

I thought for just over an hour they were very good tonight.

The Dutch looked poor, they have been for a while, but I’d at least partly credit the England side with making them look that way tonight.

John Stones has iced water running through his veins, very classy, unlucky to be out of the city side. Was looking immense before his injury, looked very classy this evening. A few did though, it got bitty with the substitutions after the goal but it was a very promising performance to that point.

    Even Jordan Henderson was effective.

Should be fresh as a daisy then, playing against teams full of guys who have played regularly for the past ten months. Could work in our favour that.

I hope Southgate plays the same starting 11 against Italy. I'd be pleased if Southgate doesn't work on the premise that certain players are guaranteed starters and we have to build a team around them. We've always had that as long as I can remember (what's Rooney's best position, he has to play, where can we fit him in, etc). No Kane or Dele Ali and we played better than I can remember. It might be different next match, but have the courage to at least keep the same team that did so well tonight.

We played OK given the quality of the opposition we faced. The game seemed to be
played at a very leisurely pace which might not be the case in Russia once we get out of
the group stage, which I fully expect us to do. There were a couple of occasions where
our defenders lacked concentration in dangerous areas. If they do that against quality
opposition later in the tournament, those mistakes could be punished.
Also wish Sterling wouldn't hog the ball so much. There were a couple of times, where
he should have threaded the ball through their defence to an England player in a better
position and instead, he dallied and consequently was robbed of the ball. All in all though, England were
the better side and in my opinion, thoroughly deserved their win.

Looking at this positivively, one excuse always made for poor performances in tournaments is the workload of the players and how demanding the Premier League is. Given the lack of game time for many they can’t use that as an excuse any more!

Stones played over half of City’s games this season & was first choice til his injury. Will be back in once Kompany inevitably gets injured again.

Rose struggled for games but been long term injured. Hopefully he’ll get a run before the end of the season.

Trippier’s been first choice at Spurs most of the season.

Gomez plays almost every game for Liverpool.

Chamberlain been first choice since Coutinho was sold in January.

Lingard been first choice for nearly all this season & been in the form of his life.

Rashford in & out but regularly comes on as a sub which is what his role for England is likely to be.

Or does it tell you that they back themselves to get in the first teams or that they want to win trophies?

Do we really want a squad full of Burnley & West Brom players? With no European experience & they go into every tournament knackered cos they’ve played every game & are ‘first choice’.

I see over 100 English were arrested there over two days. I say send them all to watch us in Russia and see if they dare act the same way.

One of our police that spoke got it right when he compared the stupidity of our last away friendly before the world cup being there (stag capital of Europe) would be like Magaluf hosting an England vs Scotland match.

I wouldn’t start Ali, he’s been poor for Spurs the last few months and looked poor again when he came on tonight. No coincidence England were much poorer after 60 minutes.

Based on last night, I think my first choice team is:

    Pickford
    Smalling Stones Maguire
    Walker Henderson Rose
    Lingard Chamberlian
    Sterling Kane

Though I think Dier Could come in for either Smalli g or Maguire, or if you wanted to play 343 drop Lingard, play Chamberlain alongside Henderson and play Rashford in the front 3.
