The fact is he is the best keeper at the club. In my opinion he is a keeper short on confidence, not a bad keeper. He is the keeper we have until the end of the season. So instead of continually ripping him to shreds let's get behind him. Not sure what good anyone thinks hammering him will do? His distribution and kicking excellent today.
Has anybody with a football brain thought that Brownhills header was just helping the ball into the danger area and not an attempt at goal therefore wrongfooting Davies .
I thought he did ok. But then I saw the highlights & you have to say that a Championship level keeper has to stop that equaliser. Why we didn't recruit a keeper in Jan is a mystery to me.
Difficult one Fired, trouble for keepers is their mistakes are magnified. Fans are nervous and we are running out of time.Trouble with keepers is unless it’s for a brilliant save getting applause over enthusiastic applause sounds sarky.
Not seen highlights yet but my point remains. He is our keeper until the end of the season so tearing him apart is not going to help. Whether or not we should have signed another keeper is irrelevant in our efforts to stay up.
How patronising is that! I’ve got a football brain are you honestly telling me that most championship keepers would not have saved that? Thing that makes it worse is it’s not in isolation and although I’m not in favour of abusing players at games what’s wrong with discussion after? The problem for keepers when they make regular mistakes is it’s not a case of booing you get a natural intake of breath when something happens it’s not deliberate but....
That’s football though, not being funny there it’s always been the case, the keeper is the one whose mistakes are magnified and often crucial
The point I'm making is that even if Davies makes a million mistakes a game he is our keeper until the end of the season. So rather than hammer him, help him.
How can we help him? He’s out of his depth, saying or not saying owt on here don’t change that and he will continue to cost us points. Signing his name won’t help either.
What a depressing fact. The lad is useless. It upsets me to think that some of my season ticket money might have gone into his pocket.
And Isgrove, stood absolutely static watching instead of helping. And I think that's about the fifth goal this season against us from a cross that thin air has done more to stop than McCarthy - not seen his owd man tweeting about his ballerina-esque attempts to stop the cross. But Davies should have done better.
I agree, but what I’m saying is, I think it’s fair enough away from the ground, but not at the ground but, a lot of tension that comes across is unintended but there’s always ‘that’ murmur or intake of breath when a keeper under pressure is involved, it’s always been like that
If you can single Davies out ahead of any other player this season I suggest you just don't get a ST. From my point of view there are half a dozen players as culpable but they can be replaced / changed between now and the end of the season. Whether we like it or not, Davies is our keeper and as supporters we should encourage.
Jack Walton is also our keeper though so is it went to point out that Davies has proven himself not to be good enough at resent and ask for one of our other professional goalkeepers to be given the chance?
If you bothered to read any other threads you'll note that I also mentioned Potts for a shocking miss and said that we have only two decent players. Did you not say last week you were thinking of not renewing next season?
