On a serious note, you're quite a big unit, there must have been more than one person to drag your (dead) weight to somewhere they felt they could pilfer your things with impunity. Quite shocked fella. Hope to catch up for a chat and a beer soon. Let's avoid Peel st.
I usually walk that way home & sometimes there can be some dodgy characters knocking about. My son also comes home the same away at 3 o'clock in the morning. We're always telling him to get a taxi. It's very worrying to hear about your attack. Hope you recover soon & that somehow they catch the scum.
That’s awful hope your’e OK there’s some rotten b.stards about these days ,just hope one day they get theirs
A mate of mine lives up off Summer Lane and he was done a few weeks ago walking home alone. Unfortunately these aren't isolated incidents either, you use to be able to walk right up summer Lane towards the hospital / Gawber without worrying but not now, get a taxi especially if you're planning on going it alone. Hope they catch the fuckers....
Cruel. I don't know Jay, but he always comes over as a decent bloke on here On another serious note - hope you're OK Jay, it sounds as if it could have turned out much worse. They need catching sharpish.
How's about next home game you, I and a few others take the same route. And see if we can drop on the lovely people again.
How bloody awful. SY police desperately need to re focus . I live in Sheffield now, and there are absolutely no problems in sending 20 of South Yorkshire’s Finest to support a private enterprise chopping down trees on a daily basis. Yet a presence to combat basic stuff like street mugging is deemed unaffordable. Best wishes and I hope you are alright sir.
Please add my sympathy to those already expressed before me. Really hope you can get a result in catching those responsible.
Im really sorry to hear that, Jay. I always enjoy reading your posts on here (apart from this one!). Not only do you have the physical scars to contend with, but also the psychological ones too, plus having to deal with stolen cards, phone etc. So I hope you can recover from all of this quickly. Take care, mate.
Hope you're recovering well and keep your chin up . You ought to have called for bbs back up were quicker and more ruthless than the cops .
That's bloody shocking and terrible. Hope you are OK. I find it genuinely shocking as well that you can physically turn up at the front desk of a police station and they turn you away and tell you to dial 101 because there is nothing they are going to do about it but it just needs recording. Is that what policing has come to in 2018? Beggars belief. Hope your ex didn't speed on the way to the station.
Really sorry to hear this Jay. As usual you were really good company in the Number 7 after the game. There used to be a police presence in Peel Square on a Friday and Saturday night, which is not that far from where you were mugged . Hope you are ok
You went to the police station to report it and was told to call 101? I’d be kicking off at that. What’s the point of having police stations if not to report things. Even it was a lost wallet or car keys, you’d go to a police station. https://www.police.uk/information-and-advice/reporting-crime/[/quote]
I get all this criticism of the cops but what could they have done? Sounds like Jay was beat up by some imbeciles not the police .
Is that all the time Gordon Owen? Shocking if true, would have thought as a bare minimum they would monitor CCTV over weekends.
I went to our local police station on one of the 3 afternoons a week they advertise that they're open to members of the public for a few hours to hand in an air rifle that had been left by a former owner in our garage. I was told that they don't deal with members of the public there at all any more and I had to go to the police enquiries desk in the local library. So, I said to this copper, you want me to walk down the high street unannounced in broad daylight and into a library full of kids, it being the holidays, carrying a gun that depending on its power, which I don't know, may or may not require a license but certainly doesn't have one? Well you could take it to the tip he said. That's when the conversation really turned sour. I had to be quite insistent to get him to take the damn thing off me. Anyway, I digress. Hope you're quickly on the mend, Jay.
