A few Reds fans stumped up today.

Wonder if the owners could put on free transport at least for those who are out of pocket. Even better if they could.extend it to all fans to try and get some support there.
(by the way this is not for me I can't
    make it)

Just think we need all efforts for a win.

Tbh for a game an hour away in our situation it’ll be embarrassing if we don’t sell out anyway . Think the allocation is around 2k at forest these days so no excuses really ! Feel for anyone who set off from other parts of the country like !

I'm sure the attendance will be down on what it would have been just by virture of been mid week now.
Also embarrasing for who? We are terrible and people have other things in life to spend money on. Football support is too often taken for granted.

Really ? If this football club can’t muster 2k fans for a huge game an hour away then we might as well pack in !

We had just over 11 thousand home fans for a huge home game last friday , should we just pack in ?

I'll not be embarrassed if we don't sell out our allocation. To be honest, considering we've only won 2 of our previous 25 games, 7 all season and 9 of our last 57 games, I think it's amazing that any Barnsley fan is going at all. I give great credit to our away following who have continued to support us in numbers despite an utterly depressing 18 months.

It's not even that big a game, nothing will be decided on the result. Win, lose or draw and we're still in a relegation scrap. We could do with a win but it's far from critical.

We're getting about 11,000 home fans at every home game, we have a multi-million pound turnover, I really don't think we should pack it in because 2,000 people don't fancy a three hour return journey on a work night to watch what is basically a poor football team that average a victory once every two months.

Exactly , I agree entirely with what you say , for us to take 2000 fans to an away fixture is approx 20% of our fans & with our performances this season, to attract that kind of following would be phenomenal but at the end of the day any support we have should be respected & to suggest that we ought to pack in if we don"t take a certain figure is ludicrous

Three hour journey ? Really ? you can dress it up anyway you like it’s awful considering the distance and the importance . Had this conversation before with folk who went to Tottenham Away ( Tuesday night and a lot further than Nottingham ) but then made excuses why they didn’t go to the Preston game the following Saturday which was closer , cheaper , on a Saturday and much more important ! I realise some folk have other commitments , I sometimes do myself but if we can’t muster two thousand for what may be a huge defining game then I reserve the right to be disappointed !

Three hour return journey, yes. If you can get from a doorstep in Barnsley to the City Ground and back in under three hours in football traffic then I'll be very impressed.

It would be great if the club put free transport on, or even better if they did that for a much longer trip to Ipswich (remember we did this for Charlton game in 13/14 and had loads there), but I doubt they will. If people want to/have the time to go to the rearranged game, I doubt the cost of transport to Nottingham will put them off.

Be three less reds fans at the rearranged date as we can’t make it on a tues night and an almost 300 mile round journey. The game being on a bank holiday and I imagine a few would have been taking kids due to the £1 entry might not now be attending when school/work commitments get thrown into the mix.

You are right about a reduced following , its a totally different ball game attending away matches in midweek, due to numerous circumstances as you mentioned , credit to the fans who can make it

They could, yes. We need to avoid getting into the mindset that they 'should' though.

It’s become a massive game now, if we still have a chance of staying up, we only have two games left after this one.

Pack in? Are you for real or on the wind up? It's not embarrasing and it's not a sign of giving up on the club. I won't be going to forest away now I was going to drive down and pay on the day. Now it's mid week and I'm up at 5am for work the following day so I don't really fancy it. I also didn't go on Friday as I had plans with the family. So do I not measure up as fan now?

Please yourself if you go or not absolutely nothing to do with me . If a club our size can’t muster two thousand for a game 60 miles down the road then it’s poor imo . A game of this importance then yes it is embarrassing . As I said I know people who can’t get for various reasons . Too expensive some say ? funny how Wembley tickets always sell out of the expensive seats first , then folk say they can’t go because it’s a midweek game but manage to get to London on a Tuesday to see a meaningless game against Tottenham . By the 24th April we’ll know how important this game in hand is , if we’re still able to escape the drop then I would fully expect to sell our full allocation .

That's how some think, I'm afraid. They think being a supporter is defined by how many games you can attend. I wonder if they'll be saying the same when life gets in the way for them in 10, 20, 30 years time. We've all been there, done that and worn the 'I never miss' t-shirt for long periods of our lives.

I’m at a loss to understand why you are at all worried about how many fans we will have at the rearranged match. We generally don’t do too bad for away support given our home attendance so why is it even an issue?

I think if we still have a realistic chance of staying up we'll take 2,000 no problem.

Saying that, we can take 200 for all I care as long as we win.

The best place for willy-waving is on Pork Talk. We have a very good away following and I'm certain it will remain so, despite the circumstances.
