As I am resigned to relegation, I am trying to see the positives in terms of the players we have & the contracts. We need to strengthen the keeper situation and centre midfield. With the right manager I think we'll go back up in 1-2 years. I'd have liked us to have sorted the goalkeeping situation in January. That might have given us a chance of staying up, which would have been my preferred scenario.
I’ve been thinking relegation wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Financially it wouldn’t be a disaster like it was under PC. With what has happened at the club since we got promoted then we deserve to be relegated. 1) All players contracts coming up for renewal at the same time. 2) Having a total new squad to find. 3) Not signing enough players in the summer for certain positions. All this very much points to us deserving to be in League 1. Time in League 1 would enable the club to finally finally finally - after 14 long seasons - get its act together properly. Jury is still out tho on whether Morais is up to the task of managing in English football. Let’s hope so.
Yes probably an extra couple of hundred grand for the goalkeeper we were after would have made all the difference ,but as usual we are tight arses it,s got to change.
And who is to say that relegation wouldn't bring about another season of struggle? Folk who think relegation would be good for us are as mad as a box of frogs.
If we go down, it won't be a quick bounce back. the hear has gone out of our team, and until we find that, we will linger in the Alehouse League.
The new regime had a chance in the January transfer window but we were still scratching about at midnight wondering who was going to sign . If they were going to spend owt they'd have done it then .
This again. No preperation done due to the impending takeover. They took over on 17th of December. We still managed to sign 6 players. Just imagine if some preperation had been allowed to be done...
Truth hurts sometimes . We were desperate for a new keeper but wouldn't meet the asking price. But we wasted money on Maloney , Pinnilos , and Knasmuller. We've had three tragic transfer windows that's why were in the **** . But hey let's not go crazy .
6 playees signed with no preperation done, within 40 days of taking over. Lets see what they come up with in the summer. Others have been given plenty of time to make their intent clear. Th best they can do is ditch the plan and anyone who can only see the plan and move to a balanced tranfser policy
How many are out of contract this summer, and what will we have left should they all go along with the loanees ? Also how many of the under 23's would be good enough ?
Been there done that many times - either struggled and stayed up or gone down and eventually gone back up - had some best times ever going up - from whatever division. Likewise had some great times staying up. Whatever happens will happen but then we need to build a team around the new regime and then hold them accountable. On a personal note I have not enjoyed going to matches this year - no confidence and knowing a team will score whoever is in our net. Either way get summat for the fans to sing about - please - will still keep going though - it's a family heirloom
It's like ever decreasing circles . The plan is fine as long as we buy quality instead if quantity . Remember why the plan was implemented in the first place , I'll just mention Frimpong and brek 'friggin Shay and about 5 million in debt .
Stitched on for relegation because that’s what we deserve . Anybody who thinks going down to division three is a good idea needs their bumps feeling , probably the same people who think we’re only little owd Barnsley .
Ben Mansford said that he had to fight to keep the wage bill at 70% of turnover for relegated clubs as the rules stated it should be 60%. Numbers might be wrong but the rules were similar. He had the rule voted in so assume it still stands
Last time we needed to go down in my opinion, to freshen things up, start again. I think the fans needed a break from the continuous relegation fights and the same struggles year in year out. It's different this time. We are still relatively newly promoted and with the takeover, we should be looking at establishing ourselves as a good Championship club. To go down, as looks likely, would be a pretty big backwards step, even if we do bounce back quickly. I don't fear League One and I appreciate the attractions of winning more games and potentially more interesting away days. The idea of Accrington or AFC Wimbledon away, winning most weeks, scoring goals aplenty, yeah it's nice. But I remember losing at home to Port Vale, Swindon, MK Dons, bleeding Crawley. Awful, empty and soulless Oakwell days and nights. I'll make the most of it if we do go down, tick grounds off I haven't been to, hope for promotion, but it would be a backwards step for the club without doubt.
