What message is this going to send out. That you shouldn't even try to defend yourself in your own home? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43639183
Shakey ground when you're on board with the lonely, old immigrant in Italy. He wasn't charged and won't be unless there's more to the story than a few short lines on the BBC are privy to.
He's been arrested for it because he stabbed a man who died. He hasn't been charged with anything though just arrested pending an investigation which I have no doubt will clear him. Now if he had been charged with murder it would be different but he hasn't he's only been arrested which I think is pretty common when you do anything so they can investigate
Give that man a medal. Not right but had the scum not invaded his property both would be alive today.
It appears to be just standard protocol. If the facts are as reported then he will be released without charge and rightly so.
Hopefully no charges will be brought. I would like the law to change. If someone breaks into your home you should be able to do whatever you like to them.
The reason that can never happen is that if I didn't like you I could kidnap you at gunpoint and murder you in my living room safe in the knowledge I can just say you broke in
I've only just noticed that I put 'charged' instead of 'arrested'. I knew he'd only been arrested, so I don't know why I typed that.
Do you need a few more straws , I’ve nicer heard as much rubbish, I don’t like a few people but I’ve never thought , oh I know I ll just pop down jimmys knock him out bring him back to mine and pop a cap in his ass idiot
Yes but then you would have to prove self defense and reasonable force and whatnot which is basically the same as the law is now when burgled.
In you scenario you would still have to prove I broke in? Would it be a big leap to say I attacked you?
Deserves a medal for sure. Two pieces of scum thought entering the house of someone twice as old to outnumber him they would have the upper hand. But this brave gentleman defended his property, himself and his wife and so one of them got their just desserts. No sympathy at all and if he's not cleared there will be uproar.
Tee hee! You got one out of three right (pretty good for you) You are correct in that I do live in Italy, Old and lonely??? Definitely not lonely and 'Old' is relative. Also, strange, in this context, you consider 'immigrant' a derogatory term.
Very lucky to be alive. For the police to charge him with murder would be ridiculous, there would be a great outcry as there's already a perception that the police care more about the criminal than the victim these days.
Very true , there are a lot of variables to consider there with your kidnap at gunpoint. 1. Witnesses of you kidnapping victim 2. Defensive bruising on victim 3. Even tape on the mouth leaves residue on the face so the police would know the "intruder" had been gagged. 4. Skin under both of your fingernails to assertain who the real "victim" was. 5. You would have to stage the "break-in" a forensically perfect way (good luck with that). 6. Angle of entry from gunshot/stab wound can be analysed to see who administered it and from what position. So in short, faking the intrusion into your home by someone you have a grudge against is terribly difficult. I believe that if someone enters another persons home uninvited with the express intent of causing harassment, alarm and distress and if weapon-carrying, they are "admitting" that they are willing to inflict injury to people who live in said property, all of their rights as a human being are removed. But its a difficult one, the government announces that we are free to bash an intruder to death, so the burglars (upon hearing this) start carrying more weapons themselves. What would have been perhaps a scuffle if the intruder is disturbed has now potentially turned into the gufight at the OK Corale.
That's a much more valid case against. Doubt the guy will be charged. I just don't like the fact anyone should have to explain themselves and prove it was "reasonable" I don't think it reasonable for anyone to break into my home where my children sleep. If I choose to respond to this by slicing someone's eyes out and forcing them to eat them, I think that's on them. But seriously how are you supposed to determine what is reasonable? If you shout at someone to leave you might give your element of surprise on them. I'd find the heaviest or sharpest thing I could and attack until they stopped moving. Maybe I'm just in a mood because I've parted with £315 this morning though
That’s a much better thought out and measured response to my thoughts of scummy ********, he should have got them both.
