Didn't agree with all of his decisions but thought he had good control of the game from start to finish.
I thought he had a relarively easy game in that boyh teams controled themselves well but he still managed get a lot of key decisions wrong which could so easily have changed the game
Agree to an extent. Quick to book McBurnie for a tug. Took ages to decide to book the Sheff Utd player for a late tackle on Isgrove. Had worse that’s for sure.
A late tackle? That was nothing short of an assault. Nowhere near the ball, no attempt to go for the ball, not even on the pitch. Could have seriously injured isgrove and only got a booking when he should have been looking at a long ban
Yeah his advantage decisions need some work but I’ve got so huge qualms with him. Linesmen were both pretty poor but to be honest, when are they not? Leon Clarke was born offside I’ve heard.
Isgrove got up far too quickly and was too sportsmanlike for not milking it. Wish our players were more like those we play against most weeks. Those advertising boards have regular incidents. Surprised on safety grounds we are allowed them, as they are very close to the pitch.
Disagree. Cheating has no place in sport whether it is an opposition player or our own player. People encouraging their own players to do it and not condeknicothe behaviour is the reason it is rife
The ref can’t take the advertising boards into account when making his decision, it’s not his fault we have them dangerously close to the pitch. Yellow was the right decision
Was a bad tackle but looked worse with him crashing into advertisement boarding, we need to seriously look into getting rid of them for next season because it affects throwings and corners from that side and as shown today they’re a danger for players luckily Isgrove wasn’t seriously hurt.
Agree, if 7/8 of our players had run in to surround the player who fouled Isgrove (remember Fulham?), he would have walked.
Cheating I agree but sportsmanship is fine. We always look better with a few clever lads in the team. We've had some good ones or the years like Darren Sheridan. Conor was good for being sly to help us too. Being nice hasn't helped us this season.
Yes he can. For example, a push towards an open field is not as dangerous as a push towards a barrier. Refs take this into account when determining a suitable punishment.
Can't understand how we're allowed those extra advertising hoardings. They're dangerous and a player is going to get hurt. As for the ref, I thought he made a couple of incorrect decisions. Moncur was fouled but kept going and we were on a good break, yet the ref brought it back for the foul. He should have played advantage. I thought Lindsay got the ball, the ref seemed to think it was a fair challenge too, but he was then influenced by the Sheff Utd attacker rolling about on the ground like he'd been shot. As soon as the free-kick was awarded and Lindsay booked, their player was up and trotting off, clearly not hurt at all. There were a couple of incidents that looked bad on the referee, but I think it's more a problem with the rules. McBurnie is stupid and pulls back a player by the shirt. The referee books him, he has to, it's in the laws of the game. Isgrove gets taken out at full pace by a bad challenge and hits those stupid advertising hoardings. I agree with the referee, it's not quite enough to send their player off, but it's clear to everyone, the referee included I'm sure, that it's a much worse challenge than McBurnie pulling back someone by the shirt, yet they both receive the same punishment. That needs sorting out.
I don’t condone cheating - but there is a level of ‘sportsmanship’ which like it or not is use of experience and nous, not cheating as such. We don’t have that in our locker. The youth of our team shows in those circumstances. If the challenge on Isgrove had happened the other way round, there’d have been half a dozen blades players on the ref and linesman in seconds. Quite possibly a different decision made on the back of it.
And as for the ref yes we’ve had much worse - but I thought he was trying to play until they scored first half. Two mins added time given, played five plus.
I'm sure they could use the painted on type advertising instead. Would still be picked up on TV then & would be a lot safer.
