Any decent pubs round the ground? I know about the Railway but not sure about anywhere else. Few of us going down on the train and coming back Wednesday.[/QUOTE] Forty odd years ago I was working in Ipswich. A local lad working with us suggested we should try "The Falcon" in Falcon Street for 'a good night out'. It turned out to be a 'Gay bar' and quite an experience for a naïve young lad from Barnsley. It's the only time I've ever seen a woman in a three piece treed suit and trilby smoking a pipe. Great craic though and a good night out. I understand it's been recently changed to a trendy wine bar come coffee lounge gastro pub, but maybe worth a visit just for nostalgia's sake.
Most craft ales are served pretty cold these days. If you prefer your lager I'd definitely recommend Adnam's Jack Brand Lager when down in Suffolk. Plenty of flavour, but definitely not served warm like some bitters.
I prefer Whiskey, Brandy, and the occasional Gin and tonic to be honest, in a place that doesn’t smell like an old mans arsehole.
