Mick McCarthy is, and always has been, a Leeds fan. Apologies if this truth shatters a few illusions.
Load of ********. Though my suspicions are “once you’ve seen how the sausage is made” so to speak and been in football that many years, save for a rare few, you don’t really “support” clubs in anywhere near the same way as non football folk.
Ok, fair play. Perhaps he doesn't have a Leeds badge tattooed on his forearm, and neither does he spend his spare time spouting bile in an aggressive manner on the LUFC fans forum. So to rephrase, Mick McCarthy grew up as a Leeds fan and still has much affection for the club. He's a Barnsley lad who began his football career at his hometown club who happen not to be the club for which he has the biggest soft spot.
How do you know this mate. I am (distantly) related to Mick and I have never heard any viscous rumours about him being a Leeds fan?
Links through St Joseph's Catholic Church which used to be opposite Ted Johnsons garage, but is no longer there. But I'm now wondering if you're a relative and a chef, is your name Brendan? (Not a **** take, by the way)
I can remember an interview when he said that he relied on Uncles to take him to games. One was a Leeds fan and the other a Barnsley fan. Regarding the latter Mick says he remembers being separated from his Uncle on the Ponte and being surprised to see his Uncle being led along the front of the Ponte with blood streaming down his face after he'd been involved in a scrap.
MM is one of the most honest men in football, he'd never allow it because his integrity would be shot and he'd never be able to set foot in Barnsley ever again.
And are the DOF & CEO on a par with ABC & ELO & XTC & BBC ?. (ok Im mucking about now lol ). But I don't reckon Mick Mac will ever come back here, in any role actually.
Nope neither do I. I've made my views plain on how I think Paul Heckingbottom has been treated though he didn't help himself I have to admit. Neverthless whether my views are right or wrong I think Mick has seen enough of football to know full well his return in any managerial capacity could well lead the the loss of a status in the history of BFC he's proud of. So, that said, we'll expect him in on Monday then.
Id say Hecky was taking us down with a just a whimper this season, and he was extremely lucky to have been allowed to stay as long as he did. But this is another subject and another argument altogether isn't it. I don't know if Mick has ever said he won't or doesn't want to come back here, but he always seems to like managing his teams to victories against us!.
No mate I’m a solicitor not a chef (but can knock up a mean chow mien ) It is through cousins on Irish side of my family - as I say distant!
