Coleman saying he hasn't made himself available to play? What does that mean? He can't be refusing to play as they wouldn't have to pay him. Attitude maybe?
Maybe it is. The lad may be on a obscene amount of money but Sunderland did give him the contract. Who would walk away from that?
I think there are 3 aspects to this. 1, at its simplest, a player either unmotivated or unwell enough to play football and being on vast amounts of money at a fairly low level in the football pyramid. 2, a player that had talent as a young kid at Everton and got paid a huge over inflated amount to go to Man City and then languish when he couldn't get in the team, then the knock on effect of other teams paying over the odds on wages and salary to minimise losses to the selling club. 3, the amount of time, and potentially the lack of support our young players have. They are effectively doing a part time job with huge amounts of free time, combined with international celebrity and spotlight, on wages that can exceed fat cat bankers and leaders of industry, during the years they have least maturity or skills to deal with it. There is a huge amount wrong with football. Outrageous ever increasing reward to players and agents, without valuable return in most cases, is a fundamental part.
