And we chose to put on a forward to replace him, leaving us with a midfield four that included a centre forward and an extremely tired Moncur. Where we were once dominant, we could no longer compete.

Having said that, when a referee puts in that kind of performance it's a lottery.

absolutely!! had a huge game again today, he drives this team forward, if he is out for 2 weeks with a hammy we're in trouble

    Exactly as I see it.

We don’t exactly have an abundance of quality in central midfield in the squad but I was surprised at no CM on the bench.

Would’ve been tempted to put Cavare on just for some extra defensiveness as we basically only had Gardner providing any cover from midfield.

Agreed, we definitely struggle with only 2 in midfield, the ref though, was truly awful.

Not seen it yet again but looked from where I was sitting Davies should have claimed the ball for their second instead of letting, I think Yids? head it, I may be wrong and it may have been too far away, it’s hard to get the perspective from the ponty, so I’ll have to wait and see.

Strange one this. He does drive forward but he has little or no end product. I can see why people like him but, in my opinion, he's not Championship standard. Not on his own though, unfortunately.

I'm of the same opinion, but I have to admit he's a better option at the side of Gardner than anyone else we have at present.

Possibly. But that tells you more about the state we are in than anything else.

Bolton were missing out midfield though, I didn’t think Bradshaw was a bad substitution though. Shame we didn’t have Williams though.

Thought the turning point was Gardner's booking. Up until then defensively he literally was our central midfield, making up for the limitations of the workaholic Potts and the total absence of the waste of space Moncur. After his booking Gardner had to be more circumspect and couldn't make the saving interventions that were the hallmark of his previous work.

Moncur needed to come off when Potts did, probably well before. We coped well enough against Sheff U with Potts and Gardner, Moncur is just not up to it.

We've loaned most of them out. Could do with Bird or McGeehan back.

No its not, him and Gardner together are terrible. Gardner with anyone else looks twice the player

Is that the Bird and McGeehan getting rave reviews out on loan? Not. Our loanees don't appear to be impacting much at their respective hosts.

I know, but we have zero options in midfield. As it stands they are our players. I'd rather put one of those two on than a striker, when we are defending a lead & our midfield has run out of steam.

You're right - I'm just disappointed because I saw Bird against Tottenham and thought he put himself about and could breakthrough this season and I had high hopes for McGeehan too. As it turns out I think they'll both need longer to develop.

Bird looked good both times I've seen him. McGeehan looked OK too. With Williams out & now Potts sending 3 midfielders out on loan in January looks ill advised. Maybe we expected Knasmullner to be playing, but he seems like the ******* son of Phil Gridlet

Bird never let us down when called upon. Looked a tidy player and could have done the job we needed him to today. Don’t forgot Morais not seen either Bird, Mowatt nor Mcgeehan all went out prior to his arrival.
