Is it possible for clubs to formally complain to the FA about a referee?

That was the worst performance of any referee at Oakwell since Gary Willard. Beats out even Trevor Kettle. There must be some kind of formal complaints procedure? That was daylight robbery out there.

After just seeing the replay of their penalty decision, he literally throws himself to the ground with nobody near him. We had two stonewall penalties turned down, and Kieffer Moore was booked for 3 fouls... against him! Then their lad pulls ours down to the ground before giving him a full-on headbutt and doesn't see red. Something not right.

I often think people on here go over the top with referees but in the game today & the Bristol game I’m not sure it’s possibly to be that bad without corruption playing a part

must say that the ref whose supposed to be impartial, seemed to take a dislike towards moore , mcburney, and Barnsley in general .

Didn’t go to the game today but refs do take a liking to some players but others they don’t get on with get the flak

Referees are afforded far too much protection from the authorities, it's absolutely disgusting IMO. If they've made a highly controversial decision or decisions they should have to come out and explain their decisions after the match has finished. A manager/coach has to face the press and could be under a lot of pressure and face the prospect of losing their job but why should it be different for the officials? The sad thing is a number of them go home on a Saturday thinking they've done a cracking job and move on to the next one. I agree with Darren Ferguson when he said a while ago they aren't fit enough and they aren't good enough. Mike Riley needs to plan a new approach because the current pool of referees aren't up to the job.

Apart from the penalty, the specifics of which were not apparent to most in the ground, he wasn't noticeably incompetent.

    When compared to his peers.

He is no excuse for us only drawing.

You don’t have to use a referee to excuse a result. However, If there is one question I could ask him him is How the hell did the name of Wheatley not make an entry into his book today. As I’ve posted earlier
, I cannot recall a player ever having as many free kicks given against him, without any action taken. He was awful, inconsistent and therefore incompetent.

I was most upset by the linesman on the West Stand side in the first half, every one of the long throws by Bolton were foul throws since the player had his feet on the pitch and when Bolton broke from half way the linesman was so out of position that he missed a blatant offside.

The foul throws being compounded by the other linesman spotting one - yes one of ours.

There was movement of the head towards Ollie Mac but I dont think he touched him did he, and it was ludicrous how he threw himself down.

Come on George, I know you're stuck in the 40's - but instead of saying "exactly!!", give me a "like".

    There's a button for it.

I don't get many likes. Isn't that a mystery eh?

Incompetence is summat we see on a regular basis, roughly about once a fortnight (!) and even allowing for the increasing difficulty of the job I've been appalled by the consistently poor standard of this season's crop of - let's not forget - "professional" referees.

Today for me went beyond incompetence. That number of blatant and obvious bad decisions by a so-called Elite Group referee - one of the best in the country - I find highly dubious and questionable. To be that bad and simply be making mistakes? Come on.

As ludicrous as the Bolton player who threw himself down for the "penalty"?

No Im not saying that, but it bugs me to see players try get an opponent sent off like that. However, I know it also happens to us and the refs keep on allowing it to happen.
