The referee today wasn't that bad.

We don't get worse referees than any other team.

We are not discriminated against in any way.

People need to grow up and see the bigger picture.

    No fishing here.

It's true. Our fans seem to think everyone is out to get us, and are unable to look at decisions objectively.

Disagree. I think referees have a difficult job. I'm not above 'ref bashing' as it were, but it's not a practice I usually get involved in. Today is one of the rare occasions when I do believe the referee had a terrible game; the inconsistency being his most infuriating fault: booking Moore for persistent fouling but not doing the same to Beevers who committed more fouls; awarding a penalty for shirt pulling but ignoring a much more blatant example of that on McBurnie.

The longer the game went on the more it degenerated into a series of ugly tackles. To my mind this occurred because the referee had lost all authority and the players on both sides felt aggrieved by a series of poor decisions and a lack of protection from an incompetent official.

All referees will get decisions wrong, this guy's whole approach seemed wrong. I thought he was terrible.

Well if it’s not a rod dangle then I will engage, and I have to disagree, at least today.

I don’t think anyone is out to get us per se. Most of the refs are not cheats I grant you. A lot are a bit crap but not corrupt. But I’d say we get more bad decisions against us than for us.

I’m not saying mike jones was quite Gary Willard-esque. But for a premier league ref he didn’t half let their players ref it for him. He gave more what he was told than he saw.

If that is a penalty, we should get four a game. We got none, ever. He gave that penalty because he was looking to give them one - he wasn’t sure about the Yiadom ‘handball’ he gave as a corner that they whinged about. He gave the next thing he could just in case. Even their manager said ‘we got our penalty eventually’. If he’d thought the Moncur ‘foul’ was one as well, he’d have moaned about not getting two. Joke of a decision.

Watch that game back. How did we end up with more yellow cards than them?

Kieffer Moore got booked for persistently being fouled. Wheater kicked lumps out of him all game, not a dickie bird. Oh but wheater used to play in the premier league so he’s alright, see also Karl Henry.

He booked Henry for mouthing off after barely ten minutes, he mouthed off about every decision for the rest of the game and nothing.

Very much reminded me of when we used to get Uriah rennie here. ‘Look at me, I’m important, big premier league cheese. I’m better than you lot’.

An official complaint should be raised about that refereeing performance. I can take ineptitude. Being so blatantly one sided I cannot.

This is where we differ. I will concede that he didn't have the best performance as a referee today, however I can't agree that it was one-sided. This is highlighted by Cod Eye's thread on the opinions of Bolton fans.

McBurnie was being a tw@t today (not that there's anything wrong with that, per se, it's part of the modern game) and the ref did very little about it.

The referee was average. He got some things right and some things wrong, like most of them do. The trouble is, his decisions against us have been blown out of all proportion by our inability to win the game. If we'd put the game to bed like we should have done, we wouldn't have a thread about the referee. If we'd defended properly, we wouldn't have a thread about the referee. If we were a better side, we wouldn't have a thread about the referee.

McBurnie was being a **** by saying something to Le Fondre before the penalty??? That definitely warranted the same outcome as the guy who dragged him to the floor and squared up to him.

I’ve got to say too, I disagree with you 100% in regards to the referee. Absolutely zero consistency in everything he did. No chance he should be back in the prem reffing anytime soon after that horror show from him.

Yes, he completely lost it after the handbags before the penalty was taken. Both players lucky to get away with a yellow card.

Happens all the time, La Fondre didn't appear to be much bothered by it.

He was awful yesterday. There's no debate on that.

I don't believe refs are "out to get us", but we haven't had a penalty at Oakwell since October 2016. How many absolutely blatant fouls on our players in the opposition box have the referees chosen to ignore in that time? There was at least one yesterday. And why are they then happy to award the opposition penalties for equal or in many cases (yesterday again) softer examples? It's not a conspiracy but you can surely see why people are incredulous at the likes of Mike Jones et al?

Ive been saying this all season...but ill go again....."this is about us".
The bigger teams get the majority of decisions as do the better more experience players...we have neither....we simply have to get with the programme and start being more cute with how we play and that should include "fergy esq" comments pre game to get inside the heads of the officials.
Also do your homework....if you know the ref is keen on this that and the other....play to to it....look at the 6 nations...some refs seem to give all the pens to one team....but its because he has an idea or intrpretation to the law being applied...ie they see it their way.
Im not saying that yesterdays ref had a good game ....he didnt....im saying what i think my team need to do to overcome the indiscretions we appear to be falling to week on week.
Also ...as has been mentioned we need to be 30% fitter...some players are not covering themselves in glory on this one...this ain't the 1970s ...it is inexcusable unless you are 32 years old plus to be blowing out of your arse on 60 mins.....it is why we are conceding so many late goals.
Majority of this can be sorted on the training pitch......"train hard....play easy".

I take you have not watched the video of him trying to get the Bolton plyer sent off ? If that had been a Bolton player trying to get a reds players sent off there would have been 20 threads about how the Bolton player was a **** and cheat !!
