Three very good efforts in the last three home games, and if the quality of the team wasn't high, the workrate could not be faulted. But recently we've failed to put away Millwall (despite their league standing, not a great side - although they work hard and are well organised), Burton and Bolton. That does not bode well for our prospects of beating Brentford. Derby may well need a win on the last day to make the playoffs. The Forest game is hard to call but they put away Ipswich yesterday. Despite struggling for results I think Leeds will have too much class for us next weekend, and Hecky is certainly desperate for a result.

The glory of two years ago has been allowed to slowly evaporate in a tale that is familiar to Barnsley fans for decades. The good that was done then has been negatived and we are back to square one. The turning point for me was not recent results, but the night of 31 August when we failed to get the McBurnie deal over the line. I believe the season would have looked very different had that deal gone through. But of course even our contribution to Oli's wages would probably have rocked our pay structures. And that at a time when we were being sold as a prudently-run club. How difficult is it to register a player? We will probably never know the full picture.

And so after the false start, the new era will really begin in August, in a new league. Developments awaited with interest.

There isn't too much to do right now. Not at all. Right now we could survive with 2 draws.

If Birmingham and Bolton both find 1 win then it will then look very bleak. But Birmingham have a hard task finding another point never mind another win.

Millwall were battered again yesterday but somehow came away with a point. Is Warnock working on the side for them?
