Yep. We needed to win today, I think. We're better than we were under Hecky, but the mini-revival has come too late.
No. Win our game in hand and we're out of the bottom three. It's unlikely because we're a really poor side but it's not over yet.
Aye but the key word there is win. Thats the flaw in the plan. All the other teams can lose every game but us staying up is dependent on us winning. Thats the bit we're struggling with.
I think at the minute we would all take needing to go to Derby on the last day of the season needing a win to stay up as difficult as that sounds.
I was hoping there could have been about 5 more minutes added on because we had the momentum then and could have done another Blunts style 3-2 win. Ok we can complain about the pen but their second goal is all our fault at the back again, and we've put ourselves in this position over the course of the season. We just dont have the strength or even the mentality to grind out wins, and we're certainly not good enough to dominate teams for the whole 90 minutes, so its always going to end up in a nervy scrap. If only we could go 2-0 ahead though in these games where we're dominating, especially in the first half. Who seriously thought we would keep that 1-0 scoreline that we had at HT today, even thought it was against an equally appalling team ?.
I think we'll stay up. Just because everyone else is worse than we are and Mcburnie's goals will get us a few more points
McBurnie has been absolute godsend. Can you imagine where we would be right now without his goals? And can you imagine where we could have been had we got him in September
Love the guy. Not just his goals but the workrate and wholehearted commitment to the cause. When you look at the effort some loanees have(nt) put in Oli sort of restores your faith.
We'd have been awesome until January, when he would have been recalled to play for Swansea or be sent back out to a bigger club.
By which time we'd have had enough points not to be in the **** we're in now. And been in a stronger position to recruit a suitable replacement.
Yes, but it means we wouldnt have been in this awful position in the league right now. Ollie might still help keep us up though, theres still loads more to happen in the final 3-4 games and Im angry that we threw that one away today, but lets not throw in the towel just yet.
Probably a similar position as we would have still only have had him half a season. Just it would have been first half instead of second. Had we got him in August and somehow got past January still with him (unlike others that got called back first chance they got) then of course we would have been safe by now. My guess would have been top half of the bottom half.
I don't think we're down. Yesterday wasn't "must win", more "must not lose", and we didn't. Other teams have got tough games and some play each other, so I'm not writing it off just yet. A few weeks ago I thought we were going down, but we're still in it and scoring goals. 50/50
