Promotion to league one. In a game being consumed by greed it's lovely to see a bit of romance still exists. John Coleman manager of the year?
Absolutely. Shows it's not always about money. Probably will sell their ground out next season for most games. Will be extremely popular for away fans. Lets hope that doesn't include us.
Big Congrats to them...but an absolute shocking ground, esp for away fans and if it's pissing down......
I think they've plans to build a new stand on the far side. Went last season and agree about the away end. Tiny and uncovered.
I’ve just seen that Matty Pearson has quite rightly and somewhat proudly congratulated Accrington on their promotion only to be directly abused by one of our supposed fans on Twitter. I really do hate seeing anything like that, it’s just completely unwarranted odious behaviour.
Twitter - mouthpiece for morons. Modern society at its worst. I'd happily see social media "un-invented"
Chuffed for Accrington Stanley. If we do go down I think I may have to stick that one on the list of occasional away days and knock another ground off the list.
Well said, just seen it myself. I don't get it at all. I'd like to think I'd be prepared to say what I put on Twitter or the BBS to the individual directly and not hide behind a pseudonym and think I was hard and clever coming out with trash like that loon has.
Amazing how players perform on the promise of a McDonald’s if they win. Perhaps we should try it the next 4 games, I’ll chuck £10 to start.
I agree. I mean, my Twitter profile is just me including my name and a photograph of me. I’d happily do the same on here if that’s how this site operated as my comments on here are exactly the same as those I share on Twitter and in person. We just seem to have a really odd keyboard warrior type following at the moment who try to completely mask their identity whilst dishing out abhorrent abuse on social media. I’m really not a fan of it, I don’t think it’s even remotely funny and it certainly isn’t impressive.
They've developed a cult following in other parts of the Country. I attended a " do" at my cousins local Club in Poole Dorset and there were locals there wearing Stanley shirts. Their success has been built on loyalty and sheer enthusiasm. They commented on Football Focus at the weekend, that their wage bill is £15 k per week. If that's right, it's a fantastic achievement. Well done John Coleman and the team for creating a little bit of football history.
It’s usually the anonymous ones that are the most vile in all debates on Twitter. Must make them feel good for some reason.
Just think, they are almost certainly going to be heading to the Stadium of Light next season for a league game. Sunderland vs Accrington Stanley. There will be fans who have supported them all their lives for whom that will be beyond their wildest dreams. Hope they enjoy the moment.
Absolutely. My friend and his wife, both St Johnstone supporters occassionally travel down to take in games. They normally do hospitality. I asked why Accrington and he said his wife just liked the name.
