Tragic that he has died early - there have been lots recently going far too young. 62 is no age. RIP Dale. Lets not pretend that Supermarket sweep was good though. It was laughably bad. Which is why it never made it out of its daytime tv slot.

According to what I've read his Mum ended her own life when he was in his twenties. After investigations it was announced that she suffered from severe depression and had overdosed. Unfortunately according to his closest friends, Dale also suffered from depression like his late Mum and he openly thanked mates like David Walliams for keeping his spirits up. He sounds as though he was one of those people who could make people happy, but sadly, he couldn't find true happiness himself. Sincerely hope he's not ended his own life, but from what those closest to him are now saying, you wouldn't be surprised if he had. RIP Dale.
I used to wake up with Dale in the late 70's. When he was on Radio Trent. He was obviously bound to progress. Watched out for him ever since. I never suspected he was anything but at ease with himself. A bit showbiz, but it came with his career path. He often cheered me up, in a dingy Nottingham bedsit. Thanks Dale.
