Over the years I have watched Barnsley I have always been blinkered as to them being better than they were when we were near the bottom
You go to the match thinking we will turn this round we should not be down here
In reality you are at the bottom because after fourty two matches you have not being good enough.
The only light at the end of the tunnel is the last few matches always turn up shock results.
Teams nothing to play for and blooding youngsters. This is our hope against Leeds, as he is trying youngsters.
Will Derby and Brentford, or Notts be doing same???

The season has not gone the way in which the optimists (me included) thought it would. The plan had to be that the inexperienced squad would develop well enough to start really showing their worth from December/ January onwards. In reality the reverse has happened and confidence has ebbed away, if anything. I had really hoped (even expected) that Cameron McGeehan would be running the midfield in the new year and scoring a few as well, but he has faded away to the bench at Scunny. There is emerging quality in several of the players, but the surge expected hasn't happened. That we are still in with a shout is down to the abysmal form of all five teams down in the 'dungeon' end of the division. Let's hope that we can scrap something from Leeds and Forest - needs at least one win and two would be dream-land. Brentford will be tough. Derby away will depend on whether they will be saving themselves for the play-offs by then, or desperately needing to win. That's one of the problems at this time of year - even the top teams take their foot off the gas once promotion and play-off issues are sorted, so there will still be some shock results. We need to benefit from at least one, if not two, of those ourselves if we are to survive. COYR

Your assessment is negative and not a true reflection of the situation, you mention results while there have been too many defeats they have generally been by the odd goal, not a lot in the games ,there has been terrible inconsistency in team selection . I would also add if this team manage to stay up in the championship bearing in mind where they were at the beginning of the season it would be a great achievement, where they are at the moment is probably what you would expect given the personnel change at the close season . Don’t know what you expect

I fully expected to be fighting against relegation. Not sure what is negative about that really, given as you say the amount of squad change and the low starting points of the recruitment

I think it’s a genuine concern that even if we do stay up, which I still think we can, that we can just go with what we have got and hope that the notion of all the players need is time/games is correct.

My assessment is FACTUAL. We have eight wins from 42 games. We have less than 1 PPG. We are in the bottom three. These are facts. The whys and the wherefores are irrelevant. This group of players is not up to it. Every conceivable stat and metric shows they are not.

The why’s and wherefore are not irrelevant ,you are writing these players off for many of them it’s there first year in the championship . I am not questioning the results they are there for all to see

This team like every other team requires the addition of new players for many reasons but just to sit back and right everyone off is nonsense

The only thing you can say for this team over that one, is that this current group is younger and seems more honest. Talent and ability wise they're about the same. Or maybe worse even.

Its interesting discussing the contracts situation , in the past , the club were slammed for getting this wrong with players not being tied down to longer contracts , hence january 17 being the tip of the iceberg , resulting in a clear out of players & players running down their contracts , however , we now have a situation where players were brought in on longer contracts in an attempt to prevent history from repeating itself but we have a situation where fans are now advocating a complete clear out of the present group of players, therefore , what is the best solution ? When signing players , do we think long term or short term ?

The more time goes on, the more it looks as if the class of 2015-16 were not the result of inspired recruitment but simply the product of a period where we got lucky. A talented group of players whose potential was untapped by a gifted head coach who we now can't find it in ourselves to respect.

I think you don't understand the concept of an honest assessment of a player's abilities.
