https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43812904 what do we think of this. Along with International breaks too will the season go later in the year or will it kick off sooner. Maybe a few more mid-week games. If its the extra mid-week option then I hope the FA have the sense to make sure the distances are not too huge .... IE Bournemouth Vs Newcastle, Plymouth Vs Carlisle... that kinda thing.
I fully expect the big clubs to fill the 2 weeks off with exhibition matches in the far east. Then there will be no disputing their voracious money grabbing tendancies.
I think (or at least they should) put something in place to stop that. Probably won’t though, as you say, more money
I think with the football league it’s a strange one because there’s already lots of games packed into midweek games and then when you count in postponed games, there’s even more. I can’t see them making the season start earlier as it already starts what early August? I suppose it could be extended further into May but I am guessing it’ll mean more midweek games which then, to me, is a bit counterintuitive to the idea of a winter break.
That's it. It won't be a winter break as they will arrange money spinning friendlies to make a mockery of the whole idea. If the plan is for a rest they won't mind the FA banning them from playing matches in the break period..... You know as well that the break will be during playable weather and as soon as they come back they will get more of a break from bad weather arriving.
It says it's just a Premier League break so that would be a surprising game. It doesn't even seem to be much of a break with televised matches continuing.
I cant get excited about the winter break - I dont think its a good idea but dont really care Moving the FA cup 5th round to midweek and removing replays is a really bad idea though Does that also apply to the Quater final and Semi final as well? or is it only the 5th Round?
