I really can't be arsed with an argument . I just thought he was good in League 1 and average in the Championship. The Ward Green analysis team says bang average trier.

Watkins would fit perfectly into our system now on the wide right of 3.

I'd give him a piggyback all the way back from Norwich

Correct but could he play thru the middle as a target man like Keiffer ?

Yes, it's the perfect formation for him. His pace & physical presence would have made the difference. McBurnie on one side, Watkins on the other & Moore in the middle would have taken some stopping.

Depends on formation but if I wasn’t playing him as CF I’d play him as a winger. Much better than anyone we have at the minute other than McBurnie and yiadom.

He could but not as effectively just like Moore would struggle on the wing. It's a pointless comparison for me.
I'd rather have Marley perosnally as he give more options. But it really isn't a one or the other.

Fair do's, it' just a earlier poster compared them. Two totally different players but id take Moore all day long because I think he has better quality and more impact thru the middle . Marley was an inbetweener.

Why isn't it an option? Granted, I probably wouldn't play them together in a front two - although to be fair it's not the worst striking partnership in the world - but in 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 it's pretty easy to imagine both of them on the field at the same time, and being pretty damn effective.

With Watkins, and I'll add Scowen too, we had two players who'd run through a brick wall for the team. I've even seen them play in friendlies like it's the World Cup Final.
Whilst I admit that neither were the most technically gifted players, there would always be a place in our starting XI for anyone who never gives anything less than 100% to the cause.

Agree he would get into our team on wing no problem.

Not good enough? Bit of a strange one that did you not watch him in our side 1st half of last season?

If we'd have had a fit Watkins at our disposal this season we'd be on more points than we are now without changing anything else. He's a better finisher than Bradshaw in my book and 10x the player Thiam has been this season.

Like has been said he'd be perfect for Jose's preferred system - would surely get 10 goals from wide right and has a physical presence. If we stop up, we should be asking after him...

IMO Marley was at his best playing wide right in a 442 drifting inside to score important goals and assists .
As a CF with back to goal marked by two towering CH's not so good .

Why is it sitting on the fence? You play your best players. It's not like he's a goalkeeper, where you can clearly only have one on the field. He's an extremely versatile player, and he'd be in my team alongside both Moore and McBurnie, whatever system we were playing. Mel Machin played three centre backs, because he knew it suited the personnel we had available. If I was a manager who had the luxury of Moore, McBurnie and Watkins in my squad, I'd start all three of them.

Would he get in above our current winger/striker though? By that I mean Thiam of course.

Good player but left too early which will have hindered his development
