It's almost 28 years to the day since this heroic, backs-to-the-wall performance at Elland Road helped stave off relegation.

More of the same later today lads.

I was in the south stand with two Leeds mates .

    What a great result .

Great blast of nostalgia. Fairclough off the field for 13 minutes! How times have changed

Feared for my life after the game - kept behind in that holding pen with bricks coming over the wall and being eventuallylet out through the narrowest of gaps between the Leeds fans to the car park

Was there. From memory we played Gerry Taggart in midfield for first 70 mins.
Pelted with coins at full time.

One of the best away nights I've had. Could do with the same today.

The best atmosphere I've ever been in at an away ground as a Barnsley supporter, absolutely electric. Anyone remember Taggart sending Mel Sterland cartwheeling over the advertising boards? I can still hear the collision now.

At that time my missus and I were mates with Eric Ilsley and his missus. Eric had been invited to the match by a L***s supporting colleague, but he was in London so I gallantly stepped in.

We sat in what I thought was a posh area with their fans near their directors box. Those around us seemed friendly and wished us well, but their tone was "why are we on the same pitch as Barnsley?". It was doing my head in, then we went 2-1 up and it changed. The men in suits around us suddenly became violent hate-filled thugs. They screamed abuse and threats at us, and pushed and jostled us without actually striking us. We were on our own surrounded by yobs whose eyes were bursting with hate, and all because our team scored 2 goals in a football match.

We left early and to this day I've never been back. Horrible place with horrible (a minority, I know) fans. Let's hammer them today please.

I had been invited as a guest of one of the Clubs Directors who had a Builders Merchants on Doncaster Road.
I met up with one of his Reps and we took our seats on the halfway line in the Main home stand.
If I remember correctly they were wanting the points for promotion to the top division and when they scored, everything
appeared to be on track. When we equalised, I had all on not to jump up and celebrate.
When we hit the winner, I completely forgot where I was and leapt to my feet in unbridled joy about to shout " GOAL"
I suddenly came to my senses and pointing at the Ref shouted " GOFF SIDE." I got a few wierd looks but got away with
it. Remember the aftermatch departure was very hostile. Their fans were seething that they'd lost. They eventually got the win they needed away at Bournemouth when they won 1-0 and Leeds fans went on the rampage. A repeat of April 1990 would do nicely today thank you.

I remember when I got home Listening to Chris Kamara who was almost in tears that a team like Barnsley had the nerve to go to Elland Road and beat them.I might be wrong but apart from us I think Oldham were the only team to win at Leeds that season.

Hostile atmosphere & a brilliant backs to the wall performance that night. Still ranks among my all time favourite away games.

Was one of the last away games I went to with my ex wife. On reflection I wish a few of the coins that showered over had hit the whore. LOL.
