Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning saying that Frank Lampard as applied for the Ipswich job...

Wouldn't want him.. would you? Relating to the younger fans and getting em excited .. nar. Stick with Jose, not his fault not had a transfer window yet.. not even his players..

Have a nice day one and all.

Yeah a random former footballer with zero managerial experience would've been miles better than an experienced coach in all fairness

With less managerial pedigree than JM. Going down that route, why not see if Harry Styles fancies a crack at it?

I wanted a feel good appointment when PH upped sticks . I thought G Neville and P Scholes would have got the fans onside and there would have been an immediate upturn in fortunes . Lampard too would have lifted the mood around the club and I’m sure would have got the respect of the players and all at the club and would have significantly upped the attendances too . This board are in charge of our dreams and aspirations and good appointment would have been a great move . The whole profile of the club needs lifting , pisses me off when even our own fans say “ we’ll we’re only a small club blah blah fookin blah” . There’s clubs smaller than us who are perceived to be much bigger and better than us . Message to Mr Lee etc , think small and that’s what we’ll be ! UTR.

So appointing one of three ex players, two of which who are never done anything and one of which has but has down very poorly would have lifted you?

Not one would have guaranteed anything would improve. The players still would be the players

The club needs results on the pitch not bums on seats.

No guarantee any of those 3 would have done any better.

I wonder if Darren Moore fancies a crack at it? Think he could get us out of L1 if we go down.

There’s no guarantees in football or in life so just carry on regardless eh . Some positivity is what’s needed and a high profile appointment would have done just that !

No, wins on the pitch would have done that

Not getting wins anyway but my point was an Alan Clarke style appointment would have raised the profile and the interest levels of the fans ! But excuse me for wanting my club to drag itself kicking and screaming into the 21st century !

Putting aside the completely nutty opinions in this thread for a second, why the f would Frank Lampard come to manage Barnsley?

Our two best managers in my time ( and the most successful) I give you Alan Clarke and Danny Wilson . Management experience ? NIL. ! I rest my case your honour . And not only was Alan Clarke successful he revolutionised the whole club !

The money isn't there, though, is it? Not within the club. Not to get a Frank Lampard. We're not a shitty little club, but let's not kid ourselves about our standing in the footballing world right now.

Technically, Wilson was player-assistant manager for a year before taking over the top job.
