I can understand why Jose Morais was appointed manager of Barnsley Football Club.
He has an exceptional CV and if the intentions are to attract international players to the club then a manager that can speak several languages is a great advantage.

However - there needs to be a realisation here that for a lower league manager to be successful then he needs certain qualities - that many managers just don’t possess.
Therefore can I suggest that the directors appoint a tried and tested manager at this level.
These managers are not difficult to find but they are likely to be expensive to employ.
An example of a tried and tested manager who has done well at every club he’s been at is Chris Wilder at Sheffield United.

For the directors to maintain that ‘international appeal’ that would enable the club to attract players from the continent then they could appoint an internationally well known ex-player as a representative of the club.

Chris Wilder isn’t going to join Barnsley. Neither is any other current encumbent.

If you appoint a manager out of the job then they’ve obviously failed at this level. Unless you’re advocating the managerial merry-go-round?

Why wouldn’t Chris Wilder join Barnsley now?

Morais does not have a impressive CV for the role he was given.

Please, please tell me you are taking the wee wee.

Why would he drop his hometown club who he has on the brink of the play offs to come go a team that's likely going to be a division below next season?

FWIW I'm led to believe that Wilder was less than overly impressed with how he was backed in the Jan transfer window, and he expected more if they were serious about pushing for top 6. However, I think Wilder's done enough in his career to date to justify a top end Championship or lower Prem club as his next job.

Yeah i heard he was a bit hacked off aswell. Just imagine how pissed off he'd be if he had to deal with one of our typically shambolic transfer windows.

Yes yer right about the January window.
And yes yer right about him doing enough to warrant a top end club.
And that’s exactly why Barnsley needs to be going after him.

Sheffield United have an exceptional manager.
    BUT NO MONEY !!!
That’s why McCabe couldn’t afford to bring in any quality in January and push for promotion.
And that’s why McCabe is now trying to sell his share in the club.

If the Sheikh (£18 Billion) gets hold of the club then they will be about the 6th richest club in the country - pushing Barnsley back in the rich list.
But if the Sheikh doesn’t get the club then Wilder would come to Barnsley because we can pay him bigger wages and we have bigger purchasing power to bring in players.
    It’s as simple as that.

Jeez - it’s like knocking a nail into a knot with some on here.
Some people need to realise that when these new owners took over at Barnsley then a new TOTALLY different era began.

Just to add to this - we won’t be paying peanuts to a guy with a brilliant CV like Jose Morais.
And IMO - although the new directors have made a bad start with the appointment of Morais - they haven’t really got started yet.
As Hecky said when they first took over - “exciting times ahead’”.

So he might have to choose between West Brom, parachute payments, Championship, looking to bounce straight back and us, League 1 whose owners have stated that they aren't going to chuck cash about. Barnsley aren't a rich club. Its owners are. I know you like to conflate the 2 but reality suggests otherwise.

The other thing that wasn't picked up on at the time - before PH met the new owners for a serious chat he was banging the 'exciting times' drum - afterwards he looked like someone had **** on his shoes - i think that's when the reality hit that we wouldn't be spending our way to promotion. (Now back to the Championship)

Get rid & put Harsley in for last two games. We have nothing to lose. This bloke is out of his depth.

Longer term, still think Nigel Clough would be ideal.. Firstly to get us out of league 1 (if we don't pull off the miracle) then to build from there. We surely have a better budget than Burton.. Look how they have never given up the fight this season, they could even leapfrog us. He is obviously getting his message across to that team. Get him in close season.

He was probably told we were going to continue the same ridiculous recruitment policy.
