Me too though it was only my second season so I didnt know any better then. This team would not have been relegated from the 3rd division they arent that bad but they just arent good enough for the Championship. They have tried harder and given more entertaiment than either of the 2 relegations from the Championship in the last 16 years but just lack the quality where in particular the 2002 team lacked the effort

The 2001/02 side went on a 12 match unbeaten run under Steve Parkin in the last half of the season. The 2013/14 side at least had the balls to win 2-0 at Charlton in a similar situation to tonight.

It is the worst side that I have seen us field in the second tier in my living memory. I am fearful that if we keep more than 3 or 4 of the current squad then we will be playing in league two in a years time

    Really?

I'd say Potts, Moore, Bradshaw, Jackson, Lindsay, Hammill and Isgrove will thrive in League 1. I've left Yiadom off this list as he'll be playing championship football somewhere else next season.

I personally think the 2014 team were dreadful to watch & at least this years side have put the effort in but lack quality , however , it is pointless comparing as every season varies because of the other sides in the league are never the same but the overriding fact is that if you finnish in the bottom three you get relegated & therefore this present side is no worse or no better than previous sides that got relegated , they all failed

I agree need another center midfielder who can tackle and pick a pass ect and 2 new keepers also need to get rid of the dead wood. And a new manager and should be fine.

Davies - top keeper when we were in League One though I'd accept his confidence is gone.
Bradshaw - one of the top three goalscorers in League One last time out
Moore - one of the top scorers in League One this season when he left Rotherham
Hammill- probably not at the standard he was two seasons ago but was unplayable at that time in League One and should still be able to contribute
Moncur - say what you like but in the right formation was one of the best players in League One with Colchester (not convinced it wasn't a one off though)
Jackson - was being lauded on here early this season and I think he's good enough for League One
Isgrove - if injury free was part of a team that ripped up League One
MCarthy - Player of the season at Wasall in League One last season

Throw in players like Pinnock, Lindsey and Potts who may well come good.

A few additions to that and I'd expect us to be strong. Under the right leadership.

Not sure if I agree that this side is the least talented of our “relegation squads”. It definitely is the most rudderless.

I think there’s a nucleus of a good League One team here but it will need a complete change of mindset regarding the back room team. Confidence is shot and I can’t see us bouncing back at the first attempt without serious changes.

I'd also add Moncur, Pinnock and Hedges to that list. Fryers, Pinillos, Cavare et al shouldn't fair badly either. We've also got McGeehan to come back - if we can get him fit and playing, he could be useful.

My go to as the worst team ever was 01/02 oh how I hated spackman, the flicker/Wilson team was bloody awful too, this season they’ve not wound me up too much and I’ve not hated them BUT the stats for 01/02 were
    W 11 D 15 L 20 F 59 A 86 the 13/14 was

    W 9 D 14 L 20 F 44 A 77 this team with 2 to play are

    W 8 D 14 L 22 F 45 A 68.

So statistically they’re even worse than the 01/02 team and on a par with 13/14.

Such a shame as I honestly think with an experienced championship manager we could have stayed up this year.

Young and Naive rather than lacking effort. There’s some potential there but not enough quality.

If potts is starting next year then the recruitment has failed again. Other than pinnock i dont rate any of our centre backs, jackson has improved but lyndsey has been poor. 2 quality central midfielders and a quality centre back..... Basically what was needed in january!!
