Thanks very much for that - it all makes sense I shall do some further reading and googling when I have time. I tend to confine my interest to matters on the pitch, but I know that's only half the picture (probably less than half!) and it's interesting to see how the finances work - or don't.

    Thanks again.

I really don't like Wilder. The bloke can talk a glass eye to sleep with that stupid accent he's got.

He's just so full of football manager speak and serious self importance it's unreal.

Besides all that, he wouldn't put up with the way we do business at Oakwell. He's already hinted that he'd be leaving the blunts if they didn't back him.

If we are going to get a decent manager we need to offer them more to work with than lower league playing squads.

Also the 1 billion has to come from some source. In the cases of the foreign billionaires it is another 1 billion brought into this country which could not come via our banks
Some could call it money laundering
Could be a reason why they bought poor old Barnsley

    Couldn’t agree more.

Even if you look at the squad last time, we had a lot of players on the bench & in the squad who would’ve been paid little.

He’d have probably been a good shout after Hecky. In fact there’s loads about who I think could’ve got at least an extra 5 or 6 points

I know I keep saying this but - I’m not advocating Chien Lee throws a load of money at the club.
    That’s NOT the Barnsley way.

With what has been said by the new directors they are not going to throw massive amounts of money at the club but are going to follow the blue print set by the previous owners.
They also said that they want to give Barnsley a more international appeal.

This to me is saying - they willl continue to recruit young players and many of these will be from abroad.
    Thats fine by me.

However - the manager position is a vital role - and now we have owners that have sufficient buying power to more or less bring in any manager they want - I’m suggesting - if they are to change the manager - then they should bring in some one who is tried and tested at this level.
But it might cost the directors to get him.
Chris Wilder is a good example of this.
    We need someone like that.

What about a proven league manager with international management experience ? Chris Coleman is a good shout , done a great job at Sunderland but might fancy a new challenge

Nudge - I think we are in agreement, I'm not saying they have to pump in money to the club, they have a choice whether they wish to or not.

Well Jamo and the rest that posted stupid remarks on this post - what are your thoughts now about my initial post in light of today’s Wilder interview.
    A sorry will suffice.

So just because he's spat his dummy out you now think he's going to want to take the helm at a club on the brink of relegation? A club with a history over the past few years of selling players and replacing them with cheaper alternatives. A club whose new owners have indicated that nothing drastic is going to change?

You might be waiting a while for your apology!

My thoughts are that he's achieved a top half finish in the championship with a team he got promoted from League 1, and there's still no chance he would come to us. A top half championship or lower and premier league club will snap him up. So you are still talking nonsense.
