Just been looking at the route, but as usual Barnsley councils information is unclear at best. Does anyone know what time this is happening? say something about a womens race setting off in the morning and then men in the afternoon? Are roads all along the route likely to be shut all day?
Most of the roads won't be shut all day. The finish line itself probably will but the rest will just be rolling roadblocks, closed about an hour in advance of them passing through, and then reopened shortly afterwards. Times are difficult to predict, depends upon how quickly they go.
Read that and was still unclear. Mentions a womans race in the morning for town centre but then it's not mentioned again.
https://letour.yorkshire.com/ Signposts up all along the route telling you approximate timings and parking restrictions etc. Best place to see it will be Elsecar because the beer festival will be on which will be far more interesting
On that link above, click on the "Stages" bit. Women's stage 2 leave Barnsley at 09:00 and takes a slightly differnt route out than the men's stage https://letour.yorkshire.com/tour-de-yorkshire-2018/womens-race/stage-2/map/ Men's stage 2 leave Barnsley at 14:20 and heads out over Penistone I think. That gives it the few extra miles over the womens race. https://letour.yorkshire.com/tour-de-yorkshire-2018/mens-race/stage-2/map/ I'll be at Cow & Calf to watch them finish
