not entirely. Think the lasses miss out the Penistone bits and about 20 miles all told. Both lots have a hill finish at Cow & Calf.
**** me they're not ranting on about equal this equal that when it comes to bike racing. *pops tin hat on*
Wow! Not a cycling fan myself, but have a read of this from Sir Gary! https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/new...he-best-of-yorkshire-as-tour-begins-1-9146789
It’s great to have event like this in Yorkshire. It actually lifts communities, boosts the economy and adds something different - long may it continue! Even if you don’t like it - more pot holes get fixed and Blacker Hill/ Dove Cliff have never had better roads (much needed for a busy route).
The only economy boosted is if your shop sells blue and yellow flags .I suppose the market in second hand bikes has gone up never seen as many on the walls
I haven't spoken to anyone who has been "lifted" by this most people in Worsbrough and Blacker Hill are pissed off and are having to change shift times and can't park outside their houses.
Most I’ve spoken to are happy. Dove Cliff was never a priority for road repairs - it’s mint now and the trees have been cut properly. Areas like Blacker Hill are always forgotten about, so events like this have made things get done. I know loads of businesses and residents in Elsecar who are also looking forward to it. Essentially one big party. I had to move my car the other year too - not exactly a pain for me - just had to have a 5 minute walk to get to it. Some folk will moan at anything and don’t want to walk more than 5 steps to their car. I bet there’s only a handful of genuine issues such as disabled folk getting to cars etc. My neighbour was disabled - he was thrilled that he could watch it from his driveway without having to leave the house!
Hev a chat wi me Sparks, owt that promotes our town in a good light lifts me, be that a bike race or a win on Sunday for the Reds Yes People will be inconvenienced but its for one day, 4 at the most.
Brilliant atmosphere in Penistone last year. 1,000's lining the streets cheering on the cyclists. The caravan came through about an hour before the race with sponsors handing out free gifts to everyone. It's a rolling road block so soon clears again for traffic.Nice to see so many smiling faces, especially young kids.
With a bit of forward planning and the dreaded use of ones legs cant see anyone missing work, there`s a way rarnd most obstacles if folk want to get somewhere, unless you know different of course.
Yeah my mate can park his van full of tools a mile away or of course he can just walk and carry them, just because it dosen't affect you don't think it's the same for everyone
Not sure why a few roads shutting for a few hours would cost you £2,000 but I'll take your word for it.
