Far too early to judge our chances for next season at the moment. We have no idea who will be managing us yet nor do we know what players will be here come pre-season so we need to wait a few weeks and see who stays and what manager comes in before we can make any call on where we may or may not finish
I've also seen people saying because we've struggled in the Championship, automatically we're also going to struggle in Division 1. There's even been predictions of a double relegation, as (according to them) all our players are ****, all of them need replacing and anyone who disagrees doesn't know what they're talking about. Just for balance.
Nobody walks League One. Even the teams that occasionally run away with the title don't walk it. The only way back up is through a combination of a good manager, a decent squad, and plenty of graft. There's no reason why we can't have those three things. But in addition to Sunderland (if they get their act together) there will be Burton and whichever 3 teams fail in this year's L1 play-offs, all fancying their chances next season. Add to that the possibility of a dark horse or a team that's come up from L2 on the crest of a wave, or some currently unknown foreign consortium buying out yet another club, and straight away you have plenty of potential contenders for promotion. Nobody's getting a free pass next season. We're gonna have to earn our way to promotion, same as we always do.
Another rude awakening awaits anyone thinking that. We will have yet another entirely new squad, as well as a new management team. We're starting again, again, again.
I'd agree there. If we aren't financially forced to sell Bradshaw we should definitely keep him. Not convinced on his Championship abilities but we KNOW he can score 20 plus in League One. Why get rid and then gamble on buying someone else to do the job he's proved he can. There's plenty of scope to bring in another striker alongside Brashaw, Moore and Adeboyojo who we think can also cut it in the Championship.
.No given the Money that should still be left in the clubs bank account and the financial clout of the new Board Barnsley FC could and should walk to promotion from L1. whether it will depends on the recruitment process of Manager and Players being a hell of a lot better this summer than its been for the last 18 months and the willingness of the board to spend some Money .
I would expect us to be competitive in League One, and possibly even contesting for automatic promotion with the right investment in players and staff. Far from certain though, and I wouldn’t put any money on it,
