I can't cope with folk from Barnsley who support other local clubs. I just can't get my head round it. F!@k them wether I'm being rational or not I'm backing the club on this one
If you fancy you can let their sponsors know you won't be using their services while they have a relationship with Shaw Lane. https://www.arrowselfdrive.com/contact https://www.dbcars.co.uk/contact-us https://www.avanthomes.co.uk/contact/ http://www.ecogisegroup.co.uk/contact/
That's correct. Their original application was rejected after objections from Brighton. The chairman John Summers resurrected the idea and it was at that stage the fans instigated a petition against the name change..
Everything aside, I'm still unclear how the Club have got any right to stop someone putting the word Barnsley in their name.
Give over. If that were the case, how do we have Manchester United/ Manchester City. Oxford United/Oxford City, Bristol Rovers/Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday/Sheffield United, Harrogate Town/Harrogate Railway etc...
Because they were named before the rule change. The ruling hasn’t been around that long so obviously prior to the change naming of clubs allowed the examples you have given.
All set up and named before the F.A. Rule was implemented. Now, if a club set up in the same town/city as already established club, they would need to name the club completely different. I'm not sure if the established club can give permission though. I know I wouldn't. The club was already losing millions per year, so why take the risk of diluting your potential fan base?
Am I right in What I have been told that Shaw Lane are also responsible for ruining a few junior level teams in the area?
You’re not far off the truth, except It was Apple Inc. that ran into trouble with The Beatles’ Apple Corps when Steve Jobs entered the Music Business.
Never heard of this FA rule change - when was that brought in? Presumably after Barnsley FC (2002) were formed?
He claims he’s a Barnsley bloke, but if so he’d surely know that a dig at the club - be it the owner past/present , officials, whatever is taken as a dig at us all. Thankfully that spirit is still thriving in Barnsley , inspired by the mining industry and an individual’s reliance on his workmate. He’s learnt to his cost, despite some who’d excuse any ******* thing if it meant a snide dig at the club. Don’t kick us when we’re down. We’re Barnsley.
Don't know to be honest. But isn't the clubs name "Barnsley Football Club"? I thought "Barnsley FC(2002)" was the name of the clubs owners? It wouldn't have made a difference anyway as the only club at the time in the are was Barnsley FC, or "Barnsley FC(2002)" if you prefer....
why are we even entertaining the man... he is a tuppence aifpenny millionaire ... just ignore the bugger and move on... his tin pot club will never be much more than a team in the Glue Pot league any way. He can call them WTF he wants for me. But what he has done is given up any hopes of pre- season games with us I would hope., which would swell their coffers. Also I hope that any BFC fan who may have gone there when we had international breaks or no match 'cos of the cups ... or even if we were away and they were an option for a satdi aft footy game... I now hope all those now totally boycott the bugger, his loss totally.
Because back then it was different rules? Or nobody objected? Don't know about the Harrogate ones but the others have existed for over a century I doubt anyone was worried about commercial issues back then
Thought that was the official name of the post-admin club. Anyway that's all irrelevant, my point is I've never heard of this FA rule only on here and couldn't find it when I searched Google. Just wondered when it was changed.
