I would be happy with either, I think we have a good chance at Cowley if they don't make it up this season as he will be able to leave with his head high and move to a good challenge with us. I bumped into him at the weekend when I was down in Lincoln and he seemed a really decent bloke. Both he and Hurst seem to be doing great things at the clubs they are at and both fit the bill in terms of what I think we are looking for. We will need to see what will happen in terms of Playoffs to see if any will be achievable.
I've got a strong feeling that Hurst will be our number one target. He fits the bill perfectly, and he's raising a lot of interest with other clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if an approach has been made already, and once he's done the job at Shrewsbury he'll be up for a new challenge. Hope he gets them promoted, will be a big boost to his cv, but whatever happens I don' think he'll be with Shrewsbury next season.
You'd best start hoping that Charlton comeback and beat em in the play offs then come Sunday. Cos if Shrewsbury go though, then the best you'll get, is to wait while the end of May... to see if they go up and then to see if he actually wants the job... Way... way too many ifs and buts for me, with Hurst.... look elsewhere.. As for the Cowley's .. already turned us down when we were two leagues apart... so why would they about turn..? I'd say.. it wont be either ..
Money, bigger following, new challenge...I don't know. Sometimes the best time to leave a post is on a high, achieve promotion and look for the next step in your career. I'll be clear though, I'm just saying I have a 'hunch' he will be our number one target, not that we'd actually get him. could be totally wrong but reading between the lines I'd say he is the young English manager that Nixon mentioned the other day. That, and Paul Hurst himself has said that he isn't ruling anything out for next season when linked with the Ipswich job, of course he said his only focus atm is getting Shrewsbury up. I still honestly think we might have a small chance of getting him even if Shrewsbury do go up, and I know it sounds daft, but he might look at Barnsley and fancy his chances of getting us back up. 2 promotions in 2 successive seasons would look brilliant on his CV and increase his stock massively.
I don't necessarily think he would. But the four times bigger salary we're likely to offer him, means he'll probably consider any offer at the very least.
You are kidding obviously ? You trying to say we can’t compete with Shrewsbury ? Fook me we are in bother
