It’s been a really stressful few weeks - and at the final whistle we are relegated back into what many on here describe as the ‘Pub League’.

During those last few weeks I’ve considered what I might write on here as a summary if we were relegated - this is that summary.

    1) The problems started when PC didn’t get the players contracts sorted out after the 2016 Wembley Playoff Final.

    2) The January 2017 Transfer Window when eight first team players were up for sale. Our better players were sold. Consequently a team just one point off the playoffs plummets down the league.

    3) A whole new squad is cobbled together in the 2017 Summer Transfer Window. It becomes clear that recruitment wasn’t going to plan and certain positions in the team were not properly covered by recruitment.

    4) Heckys interviews in the summer indicating that there were problems between Hecky and the CEO Ganaye.

    5) The death of Patrick Cryne that shocked everyone associated with the club.

    6) The best manager Barnsley has seen in a long time leaves the club and worse still he joins a club that most Barnsley fans (including Hecky) hates.

    7) Jose Morais is appointed manager and it’s clear from the start that he doesn’t understand the Championship and the players he has inherited.

A sequence of events that must be unprecedented in the history of Barnsley Football Club.
    A terrible and shocking season.
    The WORST SEASON ever.
One horrible event after the other.
No wonder the club suffered relegation.

HOWEVER - I also consider this last season to be the BEST SEASON in my lifetime.
At long long last we have a consortium of extremely wealthy owners that have funds available to them that could see the potential of Barnsley Football Club finally achieved.

So I’m relieved to see that season close.
And now I look forward with high expectations, optimism and excitement to see what our new Chairperson Chien Lee and the rest of this brilliant board of directors can produce.

What happens if we stay in league one for ten years or worse? Then 17/18 will just be a miserable season where we got new owners who couldn't get us back up the leagues.

I'd wait and see where they take us before praising the new guys.

What makes you think they are a 'brilliant 'board of directors? What have they done thats 'brilliant'? Love the optimism but they haven't done anything positive yet . Ive seen nothing so far that gives me any hope .

As far as I know James Cryne and Neerav Parekh have inherited wealth but have done good things in their own right.
Others on the board are self made people.

All of the board members are highly intelligent wealthy people.
There’s a wealth of brain power on the board of Barnsley Football Club.
I have every confidence that this group of people will get things right at Barnsley - becoming a very powerful force in the football league.

These very wealthy business people are not going to spend time and effort flying all over the place and spending time in one meeting after the other to secure the purchase of Barnsley - only to then park it up.

It’s not going to happen overnight - but it will happen.

The best manager the club has ever had l think not, very poor results ratio, disloyal to his club. He was a lucky manager in that he inherited another managers successful squad and once this went so did he.

Well I hope your right , but I must ask you about the two major decisions in their early tenure .The January transfer window was a joke, likewise their choice of new first team coach . Two major decisions that needed to input quality, they failed miserably.
I have no confidence that they will take us forward , even if we get promoted it's just returning to square one really .

    Ask ?
It’s been discussed 100s of times.

I think the targets for January 2018 had already been set by the club - McBurnie being testament to that.
I think the new owners hadn’t at that time had enough time at the club to identify potential player targets.
Although they had obviously got a few identified on the continent - but they refused to join the club.

The appointment of Morais was a no brainer once you looked at his CV. Vast majority of fans welcomed that appointment. Unbeknown to us was the fact he didn’t seem to know much about the Championship and Championship players.

I don't know about your circle of friends but mine had never heard of Morais so hardly universily welcomed , apart from that his CV was gash . Ask yourself why Morais didn't now much about the championship, it's not rocket science, but hey let's set him on .
If we'd have signed a quality keeper and left back we'd have stayed up it's that simple .
The new 'brilliant' owners fell at the first hurdle.

All they had to do was google him to see it was a load of bollacks when it came to managing a side.

I'd say my best 3 were 1981/82 Glavin, Macca, Hunter, 6th placed finish, Premier League season & 1999/2000 Hignett / Bassett season.

Worst, the last one, 2001/2 relegation season (Spackman) & the following season 2002/3, going to Mansfield away needing a win sticks in my mind.

The Assistant Manager of Porto, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea should be able to manage Barnsley.

I actually agree with you. I thought we had a very good transfer window at the time. Especially considering Manzala bailed and that other French guy. I also liked the Morais appointment at the time... Should the board have known better? Maybe... But that is easy to say looking back with hindsight.

Nudger you've probably got me on ignore but if you haven't can you PLEASE explain why Morais had a brilliant cv. I certainly thought just the opposite at the time and I know I wasn't alone in that. As has been repeatedly said all you needed was google to set massive alarm bells ringing.

It's not hindsight mate the transfer window was appalling. We were desperate for a keeper and couldn't even get the lad from Oxford . We were up all night praying for the signing of Knasmullner . Thank God that went through. It's been a shambles for a long time and the new billionnaire owners have compouded it. You may well be happy to piss about in the third division cos we'll get a few more wins and that's your choice so fair enough. Just be careful what you wish for.

Was he assistant manager? I thought he was just one of the coaching staff.

Like you say, he wasn't assistant manager. He was one of a number of people on the coaching staff as far as I'm aware.

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/jose-morais/profil/trainer/434

This is his “Amazing” CV he has held. Of his recorded managerial career he has managed traditionally big clubs in Greece, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia. He has lasted on average less than half a season.

It seems he lasts a few months.

Truly one of the most bizarre managerial appointment of my time watching football. If it was any one else, particularly Wednesday or Leeds I would find it hilarious. In fact it is almost as bizarre as when Leeds appointed David Hockaday.

Edit: Just seen his agents are the same as Dimitri Cavare..... coincidence? Perhaps.

    Not my style.
Everyone has a point of view.

Look at Wiki and Morais has a great CV.
Everyone I spoke to when he’d been appointed was over the moon with his appointment.

I thought so too. You'd think a board of directors member like Young Nudger would know that.
