I've been messing around with this website tonight, recording the date of my first visit to each ground. It's programmed with the details of when a club moved to a new ground and when they left/joined the league, so it shows how close you were to doing the 92 in any given season. The closest I got was 64 current league grounds at the end of the 1994/95 season. It's now dropped to 53 current league grounds. I've been to either the current or an old ground of 71 clubs who are in the league at present. http://www.doingthe92.com/
ive done 65 of the current grounds, but i tend to count the clubs old grounds ive visited too when i total up
I've done 98 teams (emphasis on teams cos done most of the new grounds as well) but would at my age not ever imagine doing the present 92. need 7 ( B. Rovers. Accrington and hopefully Exeter next season) Hope we don't ever drop to div.2 or it might be achieved lol. Will only do em watching tarn. Am not in same league as Kel. Ash. Etc. (Ps it's taken me 52 years to get to that amount so was a slow starter.) for what it's worth grounds I like most are those with atmosphere. Old baseball ground. Turf moor. Anfield 81 being the best.
The best view is Tables - By Season. It shows the divisions as they were in a particular season, shaded with ticks alongside those current grounds (at that time) you have ever visited. You have to scroll well to the right to change the season.
I've done 68 current grounds from the 92 and 98 in total. Hopefully may get to 100 with pre-season friendlies then 5 new ones next season or 6 if Exeter get promoted.
Been to 46 of the current 92, so exactly half. I understand the attraction of going to different grounds and ticking off as many as possible, but it's not something I ever got in to. Always chose the nearer away grounds so I've been to some, particularly those in Yorkshire and Lancashire, many times over. When we've been having a good season, and for cup games, I've travelled further afield as the relevance of the games, and our improved chances of victory, made the journey seem worth it. Go to all the home games but I guess I'm a fair weather away supporter. I was pleasantly surprised at 46 as I thought it would have been less than that. Haven't the foggiest about new or old grounds though.
I'm currently on 69 if you count Spurs at Wembley but have done over 100 if you count all the old and new grounds together. It's getting tough now. I've only missed 1 away game over the last 2 seasons, but not many new grounds have been visited. Wycombe, Bristol Rovers, Oxford, Wimbledon and hopefully either Exeter or Lincoln to add to the list next season.
Hmm website seems a bit unrealistic as it looks like you register the ground by picking the match you went to- not being funny but I went to Hillsbrough, for example, in the mid-eighties I couldn't begin to give the date of the game. Same goes for Grimsby, Derby, Bradford - all places I went to around 96-95 but not sure exactly.
If you remember the score you could go on soccerBase and use the head to head function which will bring up the dates of every game we played against those teams.
I already had a detailed record on an excel database up to the end of 2005/06 and used the head to heads on 11v11 to get the dates of the more recent games.
Spurs at Wembley does count as a current ground at the moment. Guess who I forgot to put in at first though...Barnsley! My first game was v Rotherham on 3 March 1974. We were playing Sunday home games at the time.
I like football ground maps. Especially as the 92 change. No new grounds next year had stayed up. Even after playoffs. Next year, Accrington, Bristol R, Oxford new, AFC Wimbledon and maybe Exeter to add to 103 including non-league. All watching Barnsley first team
