Sour grapes? I'll tell you what, both teams played some nice football last night, just made me think again how crap we must have been !!
For those of us around in the 80s, Shrewsbury were a common opponent in the old Division two. They had their best ever team at the time we had one of ours.
Shrewsbury’s had a bit of a freak season & are unlucky not to go straight up with a points total so high, they’d have gone up automatic most seasons. Rotherham really should be top half & challenging for the top 6. Outside of Blackburn, Wigan, Charlton, Plymouth, Portsmouth & Bradford are there many clubs who can outspend them in terms of the attendances they get & players they can bring in? Probably on a similar level to Donny & Bristol Rovers budget wise. There’s a lot of clubs with small budgets in that league, Rochdale, Oldham, Bury, Southend, Fleetwood, Shrewsbury, Gillingham, Wimbledon etc
Ref was poor last night but we’ve had them as bad last season. I noticed a huge difference between last nights match & Villa v Boro- last night, the players seemed more honest professionals with none of the Snodgrass going down when anyone came near him, only to make a miracle recovery before the need of the physio! Too many teams last year did this, Cardiff, Eeading, QPR, Villa to name but a few! After the agony of relegation, I’m starting to look forward to more honest football (but still crap refs), so for that, thank you Rovrum & Scunny.
Why knock Rotherham for the success they have had? I hope they go up. It will highlight the shambles of a club BFC have become. We have been mismanaged from top to bottom which is why we were relegated. But hey, it isn't League 2 we are going back in to so that's a plus. Anyone who was around in the 1960 will tell you where Rotherham were in relation to us. They were in Division 2 when we were in Division 4.
And if they do go up I'd expect them to finish comfortably bottom of the league. Their chairman Tony Stewart will come out with more bullsh*t to sell season tickets like last time in the Championship when he said they had the same budget/ wage structure as Huddersfield who got promoted to the the prem. In reality they are a mid table league one club and will find they're back at that level soon enough.
