The comments I’ve read on here and heard from Facebook are absolutely ridiculous, yes he’s made one or two foolish comments but does that really make him warrant being sacked?? Folk need to jump off there high horse and see that it’s nothing more than banter.

You do realise that people taking their GCSEs are generally all 15 or 16 years old, right? He's a police offer picking on children in the area he serves. If he walked up to a child or their parent and started insulting them whilst in uniform it wouldn't be brushed off as 'banter' and posting it for them and everyone else to read online instead isn't any better. When you work in the public service you don't get to 'banter' about the people you serve, it comes as part of the job description to not do anything to bring your employer into disrepute, he can have no complaint if he is sacked for breaking those rules.

In my job we have all been briefed and signed to say we understand that any comments on social media that may bring the company into disrepute can be classed as gross misconduct and may lead to dismissal.

He's committed professional suicide with those sort of comments. His job is certainly untenable in Barnsley and he'll be lucky to keep it at all. Those defending him are obviously not public servants.

Absolutely. I don’t usually comment of this sort of topic. However, I will make an exception. He’s a public servant that obviously doesn’t like Barnsley. Yes one flippant comment could be overseen but the amount of comments about us is no mistake. Get rid I say, plenty of decent people who will want to pull on that uniform

Does it really matter if somebody shows their prejudice repeatedly in a joke form or in some other way? Anybody from Barnsley who is arrested by him simply that he was unfairly targeted because of his background. It would be a cut and dried case which would cost the tax payer a lot of money in compo claims and the police wouldn't have a leg to stand on because the evidence is all over the Internet.

If officer David Smith tweeted 'GCSE results day today or as Muslims call it pizza delivery recruitment day' would he be expected to keep his job?

If a white British officer had tweeted 'another day in Bradford dealing with rapists, paedophiles and child molesters...and that's just the Muslims' would he be sacked?

A few words difference but because they pertain to a minority totally different?

I don't care if he makes occasional jokes, what a I do care about is the reason behind the jokes which is clearly a prejudice and an hatred for the people of Barnsley and that is not something that should be walking our streets with powers to ruin innocent peoples lives.

We need confidence in the integrity of our police officers and I'm sorry but there can be no confidence in his integrity or impartiality so he simply can't keep his job, at least not in this area.

If the Officer isn't at least given a warning for his conduct then something is very wrong. He's broken the civil service code. If I did this I'd be in trouble. All public servants are well aware that they cannot make remarks on social media which would bring their department (force) into disrepute.

I was thinking exactly the same. The only people facing any action will be those who have responded too strongly on here.

With the greatest of respect, you've broken the 'former players hair-do code'.
Not sure how you slipped through the net.
I wanted to call myself 'Steve Agnew's Roof Light', but got knocked back on it. I tried again with 'Martin Bullock's Three Hair-Do's On One Head', but admin blocked this also.
Hence why I just use my real name on here.
