    if you don't like the royal family that's fine I don't really care about them either way, but the argument they are propped up financially by the government is absolutely absurd. They generate far far more for the UK economy than they receive and removing them would be the worst financial decision we could ever make.

    They only help the Tourist industry in London ..
    Any idea how much there Queen gets per year from the public's purse.??

    The fact that they generate tourism income doesn't mean that they don't have their snouts in the trough wherever possible. A few years ago they tried to use a state poverty fund to pay for the Buckingham Palace heating bill.

    I'd have our royal family any day over a Trump.
    What a lovely occasion today and well worth the money it may have cost.
    For info only.... our Bard of Barnsley and my friend is not a royalist and actually turned down the chance to be nominated as poet laureate. He said he wouldn't want to cow-tow to the royals on occasions like this !!

    So I'm not allowed to object to the royal family because Harry's Mum died? I don't see how that is relevant. I wish him all the best in his wedding but I think the monarchy should definitely be abolished.
