I don't trust these new owners one bit. Their tenure so far could not have gone any worse!

You're surely a wind up merchant? Not even Hemsworth was as down in the mouth and unsupportive as you.

Even he praised the team from time to time, even though some of his comments were double edged.

You need to lighten up mate. Life's too short. Have you ever posted after a win?

Oh now sunshine you are barking up the wrong tree there. Granted I've not come on here for about 3 months but I have posted absolutely countless times praising the lads after victories. Of course last season there was scarce opportunity!

Struggling to remember any. Maybe you should give us some examples from your vast array of positive posts?

If our amazing squad assembled by Mr.Ganaye & Mr.Nothing Too Crazy gave us some examples of victories that would be a much easier task!

Proud supporter of Barnsley Football Club and England National Team for about fifteen years.

Excuse me if I'm not having a merry skip after 4 wins in 32 games!

You've never had a merry skip ever. You're not proud of the club, and show no respect for its fans.

You're just a keyboard warrior and waster.

no respect for the fans that's pot kettle black.

How Dare you! I'm incredibly proud of my club and my town. More proud than anyone, I didn't miss a game home or away in any competition for 5 years earlier on in my life. I bought every shirt for each season spanning over a decade. I've always defended Barnsley when outsiders have been less than complimentary and sung the praises of the place & team when speaking to people across the world. My bedroom is red, my winter scarf & sports bag is Barnsley F.C FFS!

I've gone crazy when we've smashed Leeds, barmy when we pulverised Hull under Flitcroft, almost being in tears when Nardiello's shot rustled the top of the net at Huddersfield.

Keyboard warrior? Nah I express my opinions about football in all forms of life. Unfortunately some people cannot handle it when someone dares to put their head above the fence.

Then again you clearly have no idea about me and have wildly misjudged my life so I really have nothing to prove to you.

I didn’t mention ‘revenues’ in L1. I did say under the old owners tenure in the Championship we couldn’t afford to compete with the salary structures to challenge consistently. I also said we don’t know what the new owners will do but they haven’t been here long enough to judge. Given your post though, I would presume you will be fully behind the owners exploring new and long term investment / revenue angles?

Have you thought that it was an idea to tap into the US commercial market ? Arguably the richest country in the world , any financial gain from anywhere in the world would be welcome at our club & I think advertising in Time Square shows the intent of the new owners & should be applauded

Criticism of new board for having no intention of investing in the club from some people. Insinuations that they have ulterior motives and are content to see us languish in the third tier.

Admittedly bizarre yet outward looking and ground breaking advertisement in Times Square....new board gets accused of wasting money.....wrong priorities etc.

How about we wait and see what happens?

I think people are finding it hard to get their heads around the owners of the club not looking at us like some provincial, little club that wont ever amount to anything more than a Championship struggler. And you can't blame people for this, seeing as that was what the club has been for 125 years plus.

I think it's great that they are trying to dip their toes into the water with other markets. At the end of the day, the way people throughout the world are watching(or consuming, to use an industry buzz word) is changing rapidly. It's sad, and really doesn't sit right with me, but for the more successful clubs gate receipts are becoming a smaller and smaller percentage of their total income, as foreign fans are watching the matches streamed online(to be fair, thats legal and illegal streams). I really do like the fact that the club seems to be looking to exploit the streaming revenue stream)no pun intended). If we ever did get back to the promised land, one of the things that will hold us back, is a stadium that holds only, what circa 23k(less with all the so called "sterile" areas etc...). With the online streaming, the sky is the limit for the amount of people that can pay £5 a pop to watch the match, with no additional steward, policing or staff costs(again, I understand that there will be network costs etc).

    Edit

And before anyone jumps in saying "why would people in the US choose to follow us over the mega clubs like Utd and Liverpool?" Well, you only have to watch the fantastic ESPN 30for30 documentaries to see that the Americans absolutely LOVE and underdog!

It's bizarre this. It's like all logic has been completely cast aside. What do we think has happened, that the wall street elite were all walking through Times Square when the advertisement was aired and decided to invest in a Sports Club that no one had ever previously heard of? Because we were on an electronic billboard. Even the tiniest bit of research will show that we're not successful. Any research on our finances will show that the vast majority of the time we make a loss and have been propped up by a wealthy fan. We're selling snake oil to people who don't want any.

Since when did spending money on advertising to people who don't care and won't buy or invest in in the product become something to be applauded?

I did not realise that you were an expert in advertising , obviously our billionaire owners should consult you before making any more commercial decisions , it makes you wonder how they ever made their fortunes

But thats what advertising is for. To make people curious about the "brand". All it takes is people seeing the ad, thinking, what is "Barnsley FC" and banging it into google. Then they know who we are. For most, it would stay there, but if a few hundred Americans decide to take more of an interest, then you have the embryonic stage of an overseas supporter base.

It might not work, or it might if it was timed better, but you never know if you don't try.

And 3 of those wins were under "Mr Nothing Too Crazy", including 2 in the last 7 and taking 8 points from the last four home games. We were unbeaten at home since mid-March. It wasn't good enough in the end, but our performances over the 46 game season was the problem.

See, boots on other foot now. You come on here winding people up and end up biting like a trout on a fly.

You still don't get it though. You've made over 1300 posts and the vast majority are ones bellyaching. I'm struggling to find a post that you've started that actually praises the team, even after a win. That's when you seem to go quiet.

You say you get get behind the team, but there is little if any evidence on this forum, and we can only judge you on what you post on here.

All the stuff about going mad, having scarves in your bedroom and going to lots of games is great, but it means nothing to the rest of us on here if you perpetually complain about everything to do with the club.

You only have to read the forum and see who the real "supporters" are. At the moment your lagging well behind and need to do some growing up and not trying to wind folk up.

Davies only signed a year extension last summer, 12 months remaining. I don't think the club can be blamed for length of contracts... especially after the complaints we didn't sign players on long enough contracts prior to the summer.

You can't have it all ways.
