Interviews are said to be under way, so hopefully the identity of the new head coach will be revealed before the week's out. It's to be hoped so, because the first and possibly biggest mistake we made last season was the late and substandard recruitment. This squad in my opinion is crying out for one or preferably two midfield enforcers as the most urgent priority. I think most other areas need strengthening, but that for me is the desperate priority. I think we'll only successfully achieve that if we are in a position to move early, and to give the new head coach sufficient time to work with the squad - which didn't happen last year.

I'm in a 'wait and see' mode at the moment so far as parting with my money is concerned. Regarding the 'boss' position, the name that would instantly bring me back in the fold is Mick McCarthy. Coleman, Scholes or McLaren would also draw me back but are probably in the realms of fantasy. The likes of Bowyer, Grayson or Cotterill would be a definite turn-off (purely my opinion). As regards other names less familiar (which is probably the likeliest scenario) I'm prepared to be open-minded.

We need an appointment early. Before he can think about recruiting he needs to assess the players we already have. I like the defenders we have but decisions need to be made on the midfield. We've got 7 or 8 central/attacking mids. There may be what we require in there but I don't know. I get what you say about a defensive midfielder but I'd prefer the Hourihane/Brownhill model where you had two guys who were simply GOOD players and could attack and defend.
We need another striker, a pacey one.

I do not get this about who the coach is going to be to influence you whether you spend your money are not , players come & go , coaches/managers come & go but fans stay loyal. Over the years there are managers I have liked & others that I have not cared for but for 90 mins on a saturday afternoon they all get my support , its your choice whether you come or stay away but using the employment of a potential manager to make your decision is strange , if your heart is not in it , then stay away

I think its more than opinion its a decision whether to renew or not & if you are looking for a reason not to renew then your heart is not in it & if thats the case then its simple, stay away

I can imagine many true supporters hearts aren't in it at the moment, seem to recall many of the players hearts wasn't in it most of the time.

If this true supporter would have had that attitude in the late nineties he would have missed the greatest season in the club's history

Then I say again , if your heart is not in it , save your money & stay away , to me , although relegation is very disappointing I would still be renewing if we were in the Conference . I just think following the reds is like life in general , you have ups & downs but I do not like throwing in the towel every time things hit a rough patch but hey, thats just me

Rightly or wrongly not everyone feels like you and they have to decide what suits them not anyone else.

It's about how you look at it, isn't it? While my allegiance will always be to BFC, to part with my money up front needs me to have a reasonable expectation of good entertainment (which is different from success). After a disappointing 18 months in terms of the running of the club, I will pick and choose my games if I'm not convinced by the new appointment - with the option take up a half season ticket at Christmas if it's going well. I certainly don't treat it like a religion. McCarthy being appointed (which looks unlikely following our relegation) would persuade me to be 'in' from the start.

And if he has a bad start to the season you will be on here blaming everybody else at the club for not backing him

The fact that there is so little definite news makes me think that we are most interested in the manager of one of the teams who are, or have been involved in play-offs. I am hoping that it would be Paul Hurst, but take your pick from Warne, Nolan, Tisdale, Cowleys. I would think that at least one of these will be within the mix and that's why there is a delay.

I know when people saw that statement, everyone immediately though Paul Hurst of Shrewsbury(who would be my pick to be fair). But I was wondering if they were fancying Kevin Nolan at Notts County? Would certainly have the contacts in the game to put a decent team together!

The attitude that if you don’t want to buy a season ticket you can sod off or are somehow less of a fan stinks and permeates from the club. For the first time in aeons I didn’t get one last season as it was clear that it was going to be a terrible season I didn’t want the pressure of knowing I had to go and it worked well for me can’t say I will ever have another one. I still went to 30 odd games but got to miss when I just couldn’t face it.

I also assume people with this attitude would rather we just took 10,000 to Wembley and the rest can just stay away!

Before anyone says otherwise, I’m not having a go but why not get a season ticket if you’ve attended so many games anyway? I had a season ticket for years and then stopped because of changed circumstances and not being able to attend enough games to justify it. I started again with the season ticket a few years ago when it made sense financially. I don’t go to every game but made most of them last season. If you went to 30 matches last season then if 20 of them were at home surely it makes sense to get one?
