I don't trust these new owners one bit. Their tenure so far could not have gone any worse!

And as for "speculating to accumulate", that concept is from the 80s and marketing and advertising has moved on at a frightening rate. Whatever you do should have purpose and the targeting of your ideal audience, for whatever audience you're trying to attract for whatever purpose is key. The thing that annoys is its a spurious thing. It's not obvious, it has no message or call to action, it looks a personal folly rather than to portray the club. It's only possible use is if there is a secondary action where that image is now carried to try and show a reach to other markets who are impressed by Americanisation. Whether in America, China maybe, or parts of south east Asia. But it doesn't seem part of a campaign, and frankly, the timing was awful. Just before relegation and linked to failure. That's not a great marketing message to send out to any prospective audience youre trying to influence,

But as I've said before.... nobody has a clue how they feel, what their plan is, what their ambitions are because they've been silent aside from a period of telling us they wouldn't go crazy.

Well dear owners, please please please tell us what you are going to do, rather than one thing you aren't... which frankly you failed to fulfil from the appointment of Morais.

I, like others, will be supportive. But the longer you remain silent, the more criticism you will encounter. Oh, and one other thing, just remember Barnsley is a Town and not a City. It's quite important to be accurate when trying to connect with an audience. Very simple marketing and communications.

This is a genuine question, as I don't really take any notice of what the vast, vast majority of the other 91 clubs do, but do many other owners of privately owned clubs openly tell their fans what they are planning to do?

I didn't think you were and no offence taken. It was a fair question.

We’ve got a CEO. I don’t know of any other company or football club where the shareholders or directors start releasing statements in the fashion demanded by some on here.

I get that the new regime is remarkably different to the Cryne era but I for one have no desire to see Chien, Conway, Hung et al speaking to the press, posting Tweets or whatever else regarding club business. I’d sooner it comes from the head of the organisation, GG.

    What do you mean?

GG has released numerous statements as and when necessary.

Everyone’s aware that we’re on the hunt for a new management team and it’s obvious they work is clearly going on behind the scenes to that end. I don’t understand what the issue is. We’ll release a statement as and when a manager/head coach is appointed.

I don’t understand why some people (in general) think that they’re entitled to constantly know from the thread to the needle on every club issue.

How long before there are banners around the ground and demonstrations?

5 months in and people are writing them off already. Have fans ever turned so quickly at any other club?

It’s just certain sections displaying a complete lack of patience and sheer narrow mindedness to a certain extent.

Really surprised at Jay’s attitude in this thread. Normally a sensible poster but maybe has got a bit hot under the collar about the early bird lack of letter ( understandably I suppose). As for the Times Square ad though I reckon you’ve succumbed to parochialism. Maybe Grace Hung is arranging for Toby to become a Chinese superstar? Maybe his own cartoon football game will take China by storm. Last English football star I saw up on the screen in NY was David Beckham. Toby will be much bigger. Toungue in cheek, but the sort of different marketing ploy we just aren’t used to.

The deal to buy the club was done and Patrick's loans to the club were repaid by the injection of cash. On the positive the new owners have reduced debt and put equity in to the club.

The tenure from then on hasn't been great but it is early days. The point about commercialising the club only works if there is a product to commercialise. You can advertise/commercialise as much as you wish but a global audience are not likely to embrace a third tier English football club.

Has anyone ever thought that their project is more about player development across their European franchise, scouting, developing and then success for their premium side? Just a thought as for the life of me I can't fathom why they would want to own us when there are other clubs with much greater commercial potential.

Still be there in August, hope springs eternal!

Well yes if you look really carefully you can see its our badge but is that how adverts work? Is the idea that you stare and scrutinise something 50 feet above your head and try to work out what it is for? Find one tiny part of the image and try to describe it to Google? Then try to work out what the hell it means?

As Jay says the image in times square was a bit of a vanity project, it didn't really promote Barnsley fc it promoted Grace hung. It actually just looked like a motivational message from her to the players rather than an ad.

Its also worth noting just how cheaply any Tom dick and Harry can put an image up in times square.

Didn't their attempts to buy several other clubs fall through prior to buying us? Due to Patrick's sad situation we're we seen as an easy target to get a good deal?

But surely it's only a good deal if they make things happen? As things stand they're just £10m out of pocket.

Okay, @SuperTyke. You’ll honestly moan about anything.

If it’s not something to do with America it’s a complaint about not receiving a season ticket renewal letter despite renewing.

I don’t envy this new regime, they’re up against a tough crowd.

I agree with that. The way I see it they can't have bought the club to make huge profits by asset stripping us because we basically don't have any which is great news for us. That leaves in my mind three possible scenarios

    1. The intend to make a profit for themselves by generating cash by as you say 'making things happen'

    2. They intend to use us as a vanity project chucking large sums of money at us just because they can

    3. They intend to use us as a sort of feeder club for nice like man City do with a few clubs around the world.

None of them actually sound bad to me

A mixture of 1 and 3 would be the ideal scenario, in my opinion of course! With three, in an ideal world we would start out as the feeder, where Nice's best prospects come for experience(but with the knock on effect of any player that proves to be good enough can be moved to Nice). Hopefully, that would give us a chance of doing Watford and getting to the Premier League, allowing the board to pivot the strategy which would make Nice the feeder to us(due to the obscene difference in money between the Premier League and France's Ligue 1.

I honestly dont know what people want. Try new things and new ideas - not acceptible

Stay small, act small, buy small screens - not acceptible

And the level of patience to see if things work and truely see what impact the owners and management have seems non existent
