I don't trust these new owners one bit. Their tenure so far could not have gone any worse!

I'd be a bit uncomfortable with option 2 to be honest because of my dislike for other clubs that have done it.

I don't know how becoming a feeder club would work in terms of personnel, maybe we would see lots of young non British players coming through our club?

Given that on the advert it says Barnsley four times and Toby is wearing a sports kit.....go and type Barnsley sport into google and see what appears on your screen.
I've no idea on the reasoning behind the ad or if it was worth the money but it's not exactly difficult to tie the ad to us if you're sufficiently interested to look.

I've said this before but it needs saying again - I've been bombarded with emails and texts about the season ticket renewal for months. I've renewed but I'm still getting the odd reminder. Every time I go on the club site it's the very first thing I see. However, I've not had anything by post about it because I've asked the club not to bother using that system of communication for me.

I'm at a loss to explain why some fans have heard nothing about it, whilst others (like me) have had megabytes of data about it. As others have said, suspect it's to do with communication preferences on our online accounts. Many companies require an "opt-in" setting for postal communication, as that saves them money for postage for people who don't need it. Maybe that's the reason why some fans haven't had letters?

Without putting words into Jay's mouth, I don't think his gripe is that we've advertised in Times Square. I think it's the fact that we've advertised in Times Square whilst seemingly neglecting local marketing.

Here you go mate. Grace is of Chinese heritage, it's the year of the dog, and apparently it was a good luck message.

It's not uncommon for owners to talk to their fans, no. Some even do it regularly. Some have columns in their programmes, Some speak with the media. Some hold press conferences, some even issue statements through their website. Some even resort to interviews on video. From Man City to Stoke to even little old Bury.

I don't expect chapter and verse and detail. And of course they can choose to do what they like. But silence, particularly when things aren't going well or the perception of fans is one of mistake and error, is a misguided way forward. It won't win over a fan base. One that's hurting and one that's seen ever decreasing connection whether that be owner, manager or player.

I have it on good authority that the Times Square advert did not come out of the club's coffers. One of the owners knew someone that could get them a slot on Times Square as a favour, and they chose to use it on promoting Barnsley.

Just been looking at the French league and it would be pretty uninspiring to be a feeder club for Nice.

They finished mid table and got average gates of under 23,000.

There are 3 clubs that attract gates of over 40,000 at the top and then you have 2 at the bottom with 9,000.

It would be like being feeder club to a championship club, when we really should be aspiring to be their equal.

Not many Championship clubs played in the Champions League this year.

    It worked well for Watford.

That's not really an argument because the championship isn't our top league, so you wouldn't really expect any of its teams to play in Europe.

Last season, Nice finished 3rd in Ligue 1, behind Monaco and PSG. Remind me how much PSG spent on Neymar? They also finished two places above Marseille, who got to the final of the Europa League. This season, they were knocked out of Europe by Ajax (after two draws) and finished 8th in the league, just 1 point off the Europa League places.

They might not get the attendances that the Championship get (neither do Spain/Italy away from the top 3-4 sides), but they quality of the league is better. At the end of the season, the French League is likely to drop below Russia, but rise over Germany to be the 5th most successful in European rankings.

I don't know how much pays for anyone in Europe to be honest. I'm not saying there aren't big hitters in the French league, just that the rest aren't of the same quality.
