The wording of the press release states that Hammill et al will leave this summer following the expiration of their contracts.
I don't get who is making the footballing decisions at the club with no manager, no 1st team coach and no director of football?
I understand that and it is a bit strange but like I say maybe he fancies a new challenge? We can't hold him here against his will! So maybe there's nothing to discuss. He is free to leave.
So what was all that about with his bird putting on Instagram that it's the "powers that be" who have brought his time here to an end? I, and many other fans are of the opinion that he wanted to stay here.
I did hear that he was the highest paid player on our books so not activating the extension clause in his contract would be one way of getting the wage bill down. We could probably afford 2 up and coming players for the money we paid Hammill.
GG previously confirmed that the under contract players all have wage reduction clauses written into their contracts that have been activated following relegation. If the club had, for arguments sake, an option to extend Hammill’s current deal then it’s obviously on the current terms which amounts to Championship wages. The club now has to comply with the Salary Cap Management Protocol which directly restricts our wages to a specified percentage of our turnover. The ‘powers that be’ quote could conceivably be a reference to the club being unable or unwilling to exercise the option or offer a new deal on terms that are acceptable to the player and his family.
I know Hamill was without doubt one of the reasons we got to Wembley twice and got promotion but this year his contribution has been NILL no goals no assists nothing Is he an example of excellent lge one player
That’s not correct. I’m not sure where this rumour started but it’s widely quoted but isn’t true at all.
I take it you did not go to Oakwell last season then , otherwise you would have seen Hammill give his all in every game & you would also have witnessed some assists from him
Someone previously posted on here a link to a video highlight where he directly assisted Potts (I think). There’s then the assist where he cut inside and had a shot saved by the keeper which was pushed into the path of McBurnie to tap in and then the assist direct from the corner that McBurnie headed in against Brentford. That’s three direct assists off the top of my head. There may be more but I’m not going to bother looking. I’m just saying that it’s completely wrong to say that he didn’t contribute an assist when he actually did.
I get your point because when we announced he's gone, it was so basic, nothing was properly explained and it left more questions than answers. On this occasion I would say because the new Hammers boss will be a manager, so it's his job to decide who stays and goes. We want another head coach so our real life football manager playing board, who have never played a game of professional football in their lives, get to choose.
Stats show that he had 1 assist and 1 goal (in league cup) https://www.whoscored.com/Players/23549/Show/Adam-Hammill
In Hammill’s case the idea of assists is flawed. He created loads of clear chances which weren’t converted. A better measure of a player’s contribution.
I wonder who scored the winning goal against Derby County in the Carabao Cup last season to set up the tie against Tottenham Hotspur and another trip to Wembley?
