I don't think it's nature. It's nature for a wild cat out in the wild to attack and kill a bird but I don't think it's nature for a domesticated cat bred as a pet to do the same.once a cat has been bred as a pet then it's actions are the responsibility of the 'owner' in exactly the same way that if a wild dog attacked a child it wouldn't be nice but it would be an act of nature, if a pet dog does it its the responsibility of the owner

We've got cats. You can't train them like you can a dog, they just look at you gone out.

Domesticated they are but they always have that nature to catch things. All their cute playing and chasing as kittens is honing their hunting skills. They'll basically chase anything small and moving.

Dunno about cats that never leave the house cos mine come in and out freely, but the people that keep inside cats always seem to be paying vet bills.

It's not just birds and mice with em either, one of mine once jumped on the back of a staffy that ventured into the garden.

Love em to bits but can understand why they're not everyone's cup of tea.

And your point would be more respected if you'd have paid a bit more attention in English classes, old man.

    Damn right!!

The "....you'd have....." started a debate in our house between my wife and myself (me at a disadvantage as she has years of teaching experience and degree level qualifications in language development)
Nevertheless I thought 'you'd' was a contracted form of 'you had'.... so... " if you had paid a bit more attention..." renders the "have" unnecessary. My wife argues that it is a contraction of "would have had " but that still means in this sentence that would be wrong.

    Either way, 'pedants corner' beckons!!

Haha! I wouldn't normally chime in, but the guy was patronising the other poster, questioning his mathematical ability, and also throwing the age card in. Age doesn't necessarily make you wiser or more clever.

He also advocated poisoning cats which is pretty disgusting if you ask me.

Your one of them posters that think they are above every one else pulling people up for spelling mistakes ffs grow up, as for poisoning cats the method used does not kill them but makes them sick and they just clear off, some one like you with your intelligence should know that , as for Tekky from ltaly you just don't like me I can put up with that but just come out and say so.

"I don't like you!" Is that OK?

Seriously, I was, for once, on your side as picking people up on grammar and spelling is a bit petty on forums. There can be many reasons for those, dyslexia, typos not spotted, lack of education (the latter doe NOT necessarily mean the person concerned is thick or stupid as I know several people who have been successful in life that could barely string two sentences together without making spelling or punctuation errors) Doen't make you a bad person.

That said, you are not beyond throwing irrelevant insults and insinuations into the mix when it suits you, plus judging people simply by what they post on here having never met them hence an element of truth in the 'not liking' part

As I said before, I wouldn't usually pick fault at someone for spelling etc. but the guy was patronising the other poster and I found it a bit hypocritical so thought I'd see how he liked it.

I still stand by my opinion on the ethics of him poisoning cats and not sure why he assumes I didn't grasp his intentions in the first place. I never stated he had killed them (but he may well have whether intended to or not).

Nope... i'm pretty sure it's illegal going about poisoning animals so if you come on the board stating that then you're going to annoy and upset others, especially people with pets. You had it coming. If you'd have done the same to dogs then i'm guessing you'd have had a lot more abuse, too....

No problems at my end but thanks for the concern!

You lost £350 worth of stock because you did not take the necessary precautions to protect them from predators. Take responsibility for your own (in)actions, and try not to admit breaking at least one law on a public forum.

I read the posts perfectly correctly thank you very much. You put aspirin into some milk and left it out for the cats to drink... so you poisoned them. Poisoning doesn't necessarily mean killing them. So tell me in all your amazing wisdom what I'm misunderstanding here?!?!?!

As for your money, as Scoff has suggested there are other ways to go about it which don't involve breaking the law. I have no sympathy whatsoever for you.

As for bothering you again, I can tell it is a bit like bashing your head against a brick wall trying to get some sense into you, so no need to worry about that!

Never see a cat in our garden even though next door but two has a couple of large fluffy little b'stards.
Next door but one is plagued with them but us and next door don't see them . This is probably down to next doors Airedale and our two Red Setters.
    Get a dog Dave

My sister and Brother-in-law once had a cat that used to torment the neighbours dog (a large pedigree German shepherd) by strutting up and down behind the wire fence of the builders compound on the new 'part built' Estate they lived on. They never understood why the owners let such a large valuable dog roam outside especially as they used to 'show' it. One day the cat realised, too late, the compound gate was still open so the dog could get in. Cue lots of barking as the cat took off down the road and out of sight, hotly pursued by said dog. A minute later the dog came back up the road yelping, hotly pursued by the cat with tail up and fur bristling.

That was not the end of it however. A few hours later the owner of dog hammered on my sisters door (with the dog, now on a lead looking very sorry for itself with a number of deep scratches down its nose and ears) threatening to 'sue' as the dog was now 'scarred' and could no longer be entered in any dog shows. My brother in law pointed out that, given the dog was allowed to roam free and had been ' beaten up' by a small domestic cat , it might be a little embarrassing for him to have to admit to that in court given the circumstances.

Most people assume a cat is easy pickings for a dog. A pack of dogs or a large Rottweiller certainly, but a cornered, frightened, healthy adult cat is not the pushover some might think.

I heard you can legally kill a cat in your washing machine if you use a specific type of clothing softener! Apparently it’s OK if they die in comfort!

    I’ll get mi coit!

only read as much rubbish once in my life that was by Scoff who knowns how I protect my hen's or should I say thinks he knows but really knows **** all about me or the way I look after my hen's, pigs, goats etc by the way I have a cat my self to catch rats and mice who actually ran away when the vermin cats came on the sean but when they vanished it came back and sleeps in a box next to my sheep dog. Nar getting back to Tekky if he thinks a cat can beat up a dog a big dog like a German Shepherd then he must think he's talking to a set of idiots may be he is when you read people like TitusMagee and Casper who if he had not called me a **** i would not have wasted my time replying to rubbish like this.
