I have absolutely no idea on how good a coach Bobby is. Nice bloke. Good servant. But I don’t know whether he’s even coached a team. Isn’t he academy director or something? Overseeing the coaches of the 23s, 18s and below.
Yeah I remember it. You were always very critical of him as a player - you wanted him dropped and made manager. It won't happen, not this time.
I don’t understand why anyone would want Hassell as manager, I can understand people hoping he’d be a success & thinking he’s the type to go on to be a manager or curious to see how it’d work out but as he’s never done it how can you want him as manager? And he doesn’t even coach does he? Doesn’t he oversee the academy & under age groups so no one at the club will have much of an idea about his coaching ability
Not for me. Hurst would be my choice but I feel Ipswich will be in for him now Ross has gone to Sunderland.
My thoughts exactly, @Django. Obviously I wish Hassell all the best in his future endeavours whether that be here or elsewhere and have nothing but fond memories of his playing career at Oakwell but for the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would advocate in favour of him being our next manager when there’s absolutely nothing to suggest he would be a success. Don’t get me wrong, he could be absolutely phenomenal but it’s clear that he’s being cited purely because of who he is in terms of the Reds connection.
As.a.fan.base qe are very divided I believe thst a man of bobby hassells stature would unify the fan base
Only if he’s successful in the role assigned to him. Blind loyalty is one of the reasons we’re where we are.
If Hassell got the job it would like in the same surcomstance's as when Hecky started Alan Clarke and Danny Wilson to a point it's a big gamble , (they would have to consult Orsenkaht on the matter.)
Brilliant; but in all seriousness we persevered with both Heckingbottom, certain playing staff and the ‘plan’ for far too long and ultimately to our detriment.
We’ve been poor on the pitch since January 2017 and poor off the pitch since the summer of 2016. It’s a combination of those two factors that has resulted in us preparing for a season in League 1. It has been a long and drawn out demise following the promotion campaign. Had Heckingbottom not been ‘one of our own’ and afforded the protection that it inevitably gives then he would’ve been given his P45 way before the point that he left to join Leeds.
Is Bobby even a football coach? I thought he was the head of youth recruitment or something? Doesn't that make him as qualified to take over as Beth from the box office?
