Saw Taylor, I was 8 or 9 when he left. I have not seen a striker that could match him. I did think David Hirst might be as good, but he was neither as prolific nor could he head the ball as well as Tommy.

I've said it before Tony Leighton was probably the best 've seen.

Winnall was a fantastic finisher. Scored from outside the box as well.

Winnall is the best we have had in recent times for me. You have to go back to Ward and Shipperley to match him. I think due to the circumstances of his departure a lot of people refuse to acknowledge how good he was.

Sad to admit it but there’s not been anyone better than Winnall since shipperly I would put Mcbernie behind those two. And I would say Mike Sheron wasn’t bad either (ducks for cover)

McBurnie might go onto good things or not but he wasn't here long enough to show either way.
Sheron had a hell of a lot of ability but as I recall he joined us off the back of a bad injury and never seemed to have the heart for it. I found him frustrating. A bit like Moncur now.

McBurnie is a much better player than Winnall but STS did well for us too.

McBurnie looks like he could be much better than Winnall I agree. But Winnall was better for us than McBurnie was in my opinion.

Winnall with the chances he got should have pissed thirty goals at league one and even when promoted he was surrounded by class.

McBurnie was a loan kid surrounded by shockingly poor players we need to get shut of this summer and he made it look so easy to score

Vaz Te occupied a similar position to McBurnie and he was phenomenal, such a fantastic player to watch. Nardiello was great value as an out and out striker as was Winnall. We’ve had some good players over the years but in fairness to the OP he’s not a million miles off it we’re looking post 2003.

He's not wrong , clearly has loads of potential but I like players to have a full season before I compare them in that way.

Tony Leighton , Eddie Loyden , Alan Clarke , Trevor Aylott , Andy Payton, David Hirst , John Hendrie , Ashley Ward , Jan Arga Fjortoff, Neil Shipperly, Michael Chopra & Sam Winnall all brought me pleasure watching them

didn't say he wasn't a good finisher but he was mainly just a poacher really wasn't he I remember a large section of the fanbase always getting frustrated with him because other aspects of his play were poor which meant that if chances did not come his way he would be ineffectual.

Oli McBurnie was better because as I said he was more well rounded and he could score all types of goals, oozed of Premier League Class where as he would get absolutely eaten alive in the prem.

Winall isn't a poacher. Have a look at youtube to see some of his goals.

Great player for us mcburnie, but if he oozed premier league class, why do you think he was on loan in the championship when his team were struggling at the bottom of the premiership?

You don't half come out with some stuff.

watched him week in week out 2 & a half years. Most of his goals are in and around the six yard box, he's got the knack of being right place right time which means he is a poacher.

It's really not that black and white though is it? Maybe because Swansea were in a relegation fight and didn't want to risk a player who at the time had never had the chance to prove himself in senior football? From his time at Oakwell I can guarantee providing he stays fit he will play at the top level and certainly have a more illustrious career than him. From his debut against Swfc to his lack kick in a reds shirt it was clear he was too good for the championship which is why he was so successful despite being shunned out wide.

With McBurnie playing from a wide starting position he was often effectual in build up play & thus caught the eye whilst Winnall came alive in & around the box either has a target or a predator & the fact that Winnall was proven over a longer period shows what a useful striker he was for us , therefore at this stage of McBurnies development I would put Winnall in front of him

To be fair to the OP,it is difficult to name many better in last 15 years for immediate impact. I do however disagree with Premiership class, there is a reason why he wasn’t even in squads for a struggling Swansea side for most of year or attracting suitors from top end of Championship last season.
Definitely good enough for Rangers though.

I can say this because Arabianian is on a boat somewhere off Shetland right now. (Alright Ian) :)......
But when you look at what Kane Hemmings did in the SPL, McBurnie would have a birthday

Well first off he only played as a striker twice for us if memory serves me right so how he can be the best striker you’ve ever seen for Barnsley is beyond me.

‘More passion than the likes of Lindsay’. When’s he not shown passion? Been here giving his all for a full season, played almost every game, always gave his all. Terrible comment.

No doubt he’ll score plenty in Scotland but the gaps massive between Celtic & Rangers, years of Champions League money means there’s a huge difference in finance & quality of player, it’ll take a lot more than McBurnie to bridge the gap
