BARNSLEY are in the hunt to sign Plymouth Argyle defender Sonny Bradley. The 26-year-old Yorkshireman is weighing up his options after being offered fresh terms by Argyle, with his current contract ending next are we actually doing this without a manager/head coach or do we have a manager already in place but not told the media about it or what?.... if not then if i was next manager id be a bit miffed as id be wanting MY own players in?? hmm hmmm
Who knows, maybe we've got a new gaffer and we're waiting til hes back from his jollies to unveil him? He may have indicated certain players. It's hard to say but im sure itll become clearer in the next few days or so hopefully if people on this board are to be believed???
maybe maybe dude,,, but not nice to all loyal barnsley fans whose money goes into club we should know, not all cloaks and daggers
Can completely understand why people are a bit upset about the lack of info since we went down. It just needs resolving soon.
If I'm not mistaken you are allowed to start negotiations in January with players who are out of contract in the summer. Perhaps we have a pre contract agreement with the player but you would hope the new head coach/manager would have to ratify it. Hope we are not committed as this is how we ended up with an unbalanced squad, signing Mallan and then McGeehan became available after recovering from injury.
It's quite easy to understand..... Manager: Trains players, scouts players, tells the board which players they want. Head coach: Demoted from the influence of a manager and gets passed players to them off those who have never played professional football, but want to play real life football manager. Concentrates pretty much just on what happens in day to day training and then picks a team. We are after another head coach, so as long as we have them in place for first day of pre season to coach the players, that's what matters. The last time we wanted a player off Plymouth it worked out pretty well by giving us our best midfielder since Hignett.
Rubbish, putting money into the club ensures you get to watch football nothing else, if you buy from a store it does not give you the right to know what’s going on at boardroom level and neither does it at Barnsley fc. Would you rather we tell all and sundry who we intend to sign and end up in a bidding war
I don't think a CB should be a priority but maybe the recruitment team really rate the player and see the need to act now before he goes somehwere else or signs a new deal, heres a few bits from PASOTI forum; "I think he’ll go just because he’ll get offered better money to go back up north. We’ll miss him though. We were lacking someone like him for years. Maybe even since coughlan. A bully , and I mean that in a good way. I’d have him as captain if we do manage to keep him." "I think sonny is replaceable meself. a very good player but i trust derek to match him or better him" "As others have said, it's either Eddy or Sonny, so if one has to go I'd rather it was Bradley than Edwards, in my opinion Eddy is the better footballer." "100% = total certainty Gone = left Apparently = as far as I know. So “With total certainty (Sonny has) left as far as I know”.
dreamboy300,the way you described a head coaches duty is so wrong. The recruitment team are told by the coach which players he wants. They then assemble a list of players who maybe available. The coach then tells his recruitment team which players he wants. Its then left to the powers that be to get the coaches targets over the line. This isn't fantasy or guess work this came from P.H's mouth. If you read the Simon Grayson article this method is used at almost every club in the country. To quote PH."if I'm offered a player I don't want I tell them not to bother because I won't play them and you're wasting money"
The old days of having a manager worked fine for about 120 years for us. Alex Ferguson had the right way. At the end of the season he'd give the board a list of the only players he wanted and then go on holiday for a month leaving them to it.
Not a lot of difference now really. The coach tells his staff who he wants and they get on with it.I suppose in most instances you have to have a back up list in case your prime target is off limits.
If the Barnsley scouts are raving about this guy manager or not in place, seams a good idea to put our name in the mix we don't want to miss out on another Coner Hourihane do we.
