Neither are my preferred choice but both have got surprisingly similar CVs. Both candidates have only managed one club. Both clubs at the time Peterborough and Hannover were looking to get promoted from their perspective leagues and both managers kept them up there until a short dip in form cost them their jobs. With this in mind I would prefer McCann at least he’ll speak better English.
Fairly simple solution to this decision. A nipsy off down laithes lane fields. It’s the only sane thing to do.
Unless we've heard Stendel speak I don't think he can be judged on his level of English. There are plenty of successful managers In England who don't speak English as their first language. But I agree they do have similar records. However the fact that he has a slightly better PPM record and the fact that his sacking appeared very harsh (see below), I would go with him. And he's German. And German's are mint at football. "With 13 wins and seven draws from their 25 games so far, they’ve remained in the promotion hunt throughout, with the latest matchday only the first time since November they’ve fallen out of the top three. Despite that there had been doubts over his position since Heldt arrived as sporting director in early March. The 47-year-old was never known for his patience with managers when he was at Schalke, and there was a feeling that he would eventually choose to appoint his own man at the helm."
How do you know he will speak better English?????? What difference does that make if he can't speak perfect English? It's not stopped Conte, Mourhino, and others from achieving had it??? Honestly some posts on here are too daft to laugh at or take seriously at all...
Surely we can do better than this pair?! I’d be utterly underwhelmed to say the least were we to appoint either.
This Stendel would be a bizarre appointment, such a small performance sample to go off, and why hasn’t another German club picked him up before now? McCann has a connection with us and has managed in League One so I can see how that is a viable option (not that I want him) very depressing the quality of managers we are in for this year
It is Barnsley FC a bizarre appointment was always going to happen. It is just frustrating that there are so many good young managers in the UK and we are either not approaching them or can't agree deals with them so we seemingly have been left with some unknown German and McCann.
that is my worry, we are obviously trying to emulate Huddersfield with him and with Jose we were trying to jump on the Portuguese (carvalhal, Marco Silva, nuno etc) bandwagon
Exactly, we are scraping the barrel now, if Jose Morais and Strendel are the best men we can attract then so be it
Well we can only judge him on his CV which is not very good at all tbh! He was in charge of the favourites for promotion back to Bundesliga and was sacked in 6th place after some embarrassing results, and has since been unemployed for over a year “With the 2. Bundesliga’s chase for promotion still tighter than ever, it’s make or break time for Hannover 96. A rather mediocre second half of the season has seen the Niedersachsen club’s push for an instant promotion back to the Bundesliga take a knock. Defeats to Greuther Fürth (an embarrassing 4-1 away defeat), and Karlsruhe (2-0, also away) will be seen as the catalysts for Stendel’s demise, but a 0-0 draw away at St. Pauli was the final nail in the coffin for the now former Hannover 96 coach”
Stuttgart were favourites. The last 2 years Bundesliga 2 have been very tight from top to bottom with few stand out favourites....Stuttgart were one of them and proved it by winning the league.
His team slipped to 3rd (still within reach of automatic) after two losses and a draw. Most reports Ive read suggest it was a very harsh sacking. And looking at the figures i would agree.
