Because they got a new Director of football who wanted to have his own appointment in charge so gave him the boot.
Looks like it also coincided with a dip in form that saw them drop to 4th place in Bundesliga 2, so it seems to have been a bit of a panic reaction to this too. The new guy then got 7 wins from 11 and they were promoted. Links below to a couple of articles referencing him. The season preview suggests he likes a 4-2-3-1 formation (just like Morais!) http://bundesligafanatic.com/201703...game-for-hannover-96-in-0-0-draw-at-st-pauli/ http://bundesligafanatic.com/201608...w-hannover-96-aiming-for-immediate-promotion/ Seems a harsh sacking at the time, but still looks to be an odd choice to me (if indeed he is the guy). My immediate question would be what he's been doing for the last 15 months, since being sacked in March 2017.
Because they were the biggest club in the division (bit like when Newcastle went into champ) they should have been battling for the title
I’d disagree, I’d say Stuttgart (who went up as champions and then finished 7th in the bundesliga this past season) are a bigger club and more comparable to when Newcastle were in the championship.
Exactly. Cant fathom some of the negativity towards this appointment. Inexperienced yes, but still has an excellent points return from his games managed. Furthermore, all reports suggest his sacking was very harsh. He's got my backing.
Win percentages? Really? Do people actually give this any relevance? How on earth can you read anything into his win percentage at Hannover when I’d guess no one on here could name a Hannover player or where they were expected to finish in the league or what budget they had. It’s like with us, Lee Johnson for example would have a much better win percentage in league one for having us mid table than a Mark Robins or Paul Heckingbottom would have for having us 4th bottom in the championship but the latter two would be doing a better job. Wagner did a far better job in having Huddersfield stay up than Wenger did having Arsenal 6th, win percentage would say otherwise. Not trying to have a go but fed up of reading about win percentages as if they mean anything. If you’re judging a manager you should be looking at how they perform in relation to their budget & where they’re expected to finish Should point out that I’m not against Stendel, I’d back anyone that gets the job just against pointless stats
