Sounds like ITV are not even offering a 4k stream and BBC are offering it to "tens of thousands" on a first come, first served basis. So we get half of the games, if we're lucky. Good to see our country still lagging behind the rest of the world by such a long distance. A few countries offering 54 Games live in 4K HDR: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. Makes you proud to be British, doesn't it.
Thanks for the input. It is pretty terrible that our national broadcasters chosen to broadcast one of the largest sporting events in the world, choose to do so at a quality lower than what they are able to, yes. Perhaps I should have posted a random right wing news article that has nothing to do with football to make you feel more at home?
Your going to need a 40mb or greater internet connection for the Live 4K BBC iPlayer streams. The UK average is around 16.5mb.
I know it's not great, a country like this appearing to lag behind. However, I'm more than happy with an HD stream on my big tele.
I take the point that we are behind other, perceptibly less developed countries, on this. Like others though my overriding emotion is "meh". I can't say I'm particularly excited by 4k so not particularly bothered at its absence. Certainty doesn't give me a lesser opinion of my country as a whole!
Don't even start me on wifi speeds! 90meg stream sat on the doorstep of a woman cooking out of a metal pot, sat on a kids plastic chair in Hanoi. 4meg if i'm lucky at home just outside central London!
I don't know if it is still the case, but at one point the fastest home broadband connection in the world was gigabit class to some old woman in Finland. Her grandson was the head of Nokia.
Haha, god bless nepotism! I'd go so far as to say, I can't think of a country i've been to so far where the typical wifi connectivity, or general 4G coverage, has been equal or worse to the speeds I get at home. Estonia had amazing coverage and the speeds were super quick, but they've had a huge push to integrate tech into so many areas they've ensured the infrastructure is there.
Pretty sure you can get gigabit in this country now in some places (maybe even some places in Barnsley?)
