They have a good squad at the moment but Xia's money has dried up, hence the missed payment to HMRC. He was pumping £4m a month into the club till last year but that stopped. Rangers owed a lot more than Villa do but if Villa's money flow problems aren't sorted out they could lose all their players and become the next Leeds or Wednesday. They'll have to sell assets and recruit players on smaller salaries, players who won't get them back into the Premier League. They might have to go into administration or liquidation because Xia was propping them up and if that support collapses, as it has, then they could hit a financial wall.
Problem is there is another 4.2 million due in 3 weeks , plus players like Micah Richards still been paid out .
It's high time that one of these gambling clubs took the medicine for failure at it, but don't hold your breath. I seem to recall one or two others in the recent past slithering out from under a load of debt and sliming their way back to the trough. Leicester? Any more come to mind? If Villa go under, prepare to see me in a state of partial undress on the Town Hall steps.
James Bree £23,000 per week. Utter madness. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/staggering-wages-left-aston-villa-12658260
http://www.sportbible.com/football/...the-20th-highest-wage-bill-in-europe-20170118 A quick Google confirms villa have the 20th highest wage bill in Europe , the 7th highest in England . That's with no prem money or champions league . That's one delluded club . I'm thinking their European cup win has gone to their heads.
Going under would mean outright liquidation, and assets sold to pay off creditors as much as possible. As football debts have higher status as preferred creditors than HMRC, we'd get paid (along with other clubs) first. More likely to be administration where the club is run by an accounting firm, decisions made to try and secure it, including finding a new buyer. If that's what has to happen, Xia will lose the club unless he agrees a prepack, which essentially means he buys the club and assets back at a set amount before others are allowed to acquire it.
I'm pretty sure villa will be in championship next season but if they do go bust we should get all lads back off holiday and shrewsbury do same and have a game at Wembley for who takes their place.
Do you get to use your loan players and the ones you’re about to release? Wouldn’t fancy our chances in that match without McBurnie, Yiadom, Hammill etc.
They had a few decent loan players too their keeper for one. so we will say yes and they can have Paul Hurst for one last game.
