This will have a negative effect now on athersley rec so all the neighsayers have possible recked 2 local clubs
Aye but their owner supports Wednesday so he deserves to be hit by a bus/go out of business/get his house set on fire. Nobody should have to face the abuse he's taken in the last few months, and ultimately as you say, Barnsley's lost 1 potentially 2 local football teams, all because one of them dared to support another football team growing upm
L wtf does it matter if he supports wednesdays Danny Wilson was a Wednesday player but he’s a hero for getting us to prem yes he did say a few silly things but look what he’s had to put up with from reds fans
"The objective when Shaw Lane FC started was to give Barnsley a non-league football club, which could work together with Barnsley FC and the council to become an asset for the community and a development club for the Borough’s promising players. Unfortunately neither of these bodies shared his vision and Craig has decided to retire from the club and concentrate on developing his business and spending more time with his young family" Aye, tell us another un'.
I agree. The first part of my post is some of the things I've read in the last few months aimed at him all because of the football team he supported growing up.
Never really had a problem with them or the fact their owner supported Wednesday. But after his stupid attempt to get them renamed to something so close to our own and then whinging about it and celebrating the clubs relegation he’s only got himself to blame, no sympthy for him at all
Wonder if anybody who gloating in the fact the mr wood has closed down shaw lane have actually had the need to use his plumbing business
It’s a shame - but I think he was naive to think BFC would potentially allow another club to ‘steal’ supporters. I know that wasn’t Shaw Lane’s aim, but it could have happened and backfired on BFC. Sometimes folk become disillusioned with football, and a cheap game at Shaw Lane instead of Oakwell can look attractive. People very rarely have the time or spare cash to watch both....... Wakefield was the ideal answer in many ways..
some seriously bitter people on here, his football club was insignificant at best, no need for all the animosity just because he grew up supporting a different team. Shame for the town and a real shame for athersley rec who probably could really use the cash he was providing in rent.
barnsley would,nt have lost fans BFC and shaw lane could have had a joint venture where season tickets holders could have had reduce ticket prices for each other’s games also could have used it a feeder club to send all youngsters to get greater experience this is a great loss to non league football in barnsley
I understand your thought - but the club (business) has to protect itself. I can perfectly see why they didn’t back it. They cannot take the risk. Do Salford City have links with City and Utd?
Yep . I wonder how many young Barnsley lads will miss out on an opportunity to have a chance at a career in football should oakwell reject them . Nothing to celebrate here .
