Hes also overseen about 20 signings since he came. Not bad for someone who doesn't know what hes doing.
The direct abuse that he receives on Twitter is appalling. Stendel said that the club offered him a deal two weeks before the appointment was announced yet in those two weeks GG was subject to a barrage of abuse from ‘fans’ despite the appointment being essentially agreed, at least verbally anyway. There’s a very weird trend at the moment that our fans must know everything and that if it appears quiet on the outside then it means that GG et al aren’t doing their jobs correctly. It’s like when Watkins left and people were saying things like ‘good, he didn’t do anything anyway.” It’s bizarre.
I get that you're sceptical. A bit of scepticism is healthy, better than being naive. I think you believe that some are willing to give the owners a blank cheque and support anything they do. probably me being one. I don't. I'll criticise when I see a trend of bad decisions or lack of concern from them for the future of the club. A lot went against us under the reign of PC. I was willing to go along with that because I agreed with his long term strategy of securing our future. I haven't seen enough from the new owners to be able to see a trend. Anyone would have found it extremely difficult to recruit successfully in January. I've no gripes there. They cocked up with Morais. It looked a dodgy appointment from the start for me. If Stendel turns out to be similar then I'd start to ask questions. However, until that happens I'm quite happy to watch with interest and hope rather than condemn them for the sake of it.
We owe you a drink then. If I can work out how to do a personal message I will be in touch. Thank you.
Post of the season. Thanks for sharing. Most fans haven't a fecking clue what he does, he's just there to be shot at for most.
Good post Mapplewell , it seems that poor old GG is a soft target for anyone with a gripe against the club although it seems a trend that was up & running with his predecessors . I remember in the days of Michael Spinx he was not without a fair share of hammer if things were going wrong on the pitch & even those who are now held in high esteem such as Ben Mansford, used to get his fair share during a dodgy spell but what gets me annoyed is the abuse people dish out , some of it being really insultive , there is absolutely need for it , if you are not happy with something , thats fine, but state your case & make your point in a polite manner , it costs nothing .
Loving the club and GG’s post. I can only imagine that certain people are scrambling around this Sunday night looking for something negative to post or an angle to attack GG with.
